Word of Life Disc Golf Course

Word of Life Disc Golf Course Disc Golf Course - 18 holes (9 baskets with front & back tee pads)
New, permanent baskets installed 5/23/24 Course maps are available near the first tee pad.

What started as a pop-up course for a church event is now open to the public. Course is closed on Sunday mornings and/or when funerals are taking place. Parking in the lower lot is preferred - the 1st tee is up the stairs by the front entrance / mailbox. Loaner disc sets are available just inside the first set of doors at the main entrance to the church, inside a yellow box. Some Course Notes:
- N

ew, permanent baskets installed 5/23/24
- We have a mixture of tee pads marked with orange or yellow stakes as the front of the "tee pad." Some are existing concrete or asphalt, others are outdoor carpet-covered rubber mats.
- We have garbage bins available by the bend on #2, after # 4(13), 7 (16) and # 9 (18) on the course, so please help us care for the church property. Mando's (we hope to add signs eventually):
Hole 3 - right of the 1st tree
Hole 9 - left of the group of 4 trees. If you miss the mando, take your penalty stroke and go the the marked drop zone to the left of the two other birch trees (it should make sense when you're there). Recommended "Hazard": All asphalt (Hazard penalty stroke, but play from where the disc lies). When leagues play, this rule is followed. Have fun out there!

On Friday, August 28th, we will once again be hosting the annual SMMART Honor Guard Training "final exam," including a full-honors memorial service for a previously fallen first responder, on the church property, so the course will be closed from 7am - approximately 3pm.
Thanks for your understanding.

Because of damage to tee signs and two of our benches being thrown into the river, we put up “private property” signs near the river.

Thankfully, we were able to retrieve both benches (one with some effort and a swim).

The signs are not meant for the disc golf community, as you have been really good with the property.

If you see or hear of people causing damage, would you please let us know.

Thanks!

Tim

FYI, there is a youth campout at the church this weekend, so some of the holes near the river will be obstructed with activity and tents until Saturday evening.

Course Updates:
1. Tee signs are back out ( # 18 has a new post in place, but waiting for the sign to be printed).
2. All holes are playable. 2/11 and 5/14 are still wet, but manageable and getting better every day.
3. The mando on #9 is now a lot easier after one birch tree was taken down after storm damage.
4. Thanks to whoever fished the bench out of the river!
5. The garbage can after 9/18 is now at 7/16 (the black one washed away in the flooding).
6. Reminder: the course is closed on Sunday mornings until about 1, when all the cars clear out after the service.

Hope to see you all out there!

Tee signs are back out!
It is a little muddy along the river, but mostly playable.
Unfortunately, the basket for # 2 / 11 is still surrounded by water.
Have fun out there.

Well, the church course fared pretty well for all the flooding. We lost the garbage can from between basket 7 and tee 8, and lost the tee sign and post for #18.

We may have gained a bench if we can get it fished out of the river just off tee #8 before it floats downstream. It is maybe 6 feet off shore.

Things are muddy down there, but mostly playable.

Basket 2/11 and 5/14 still have quite a bit of water, but we're playable.

We hope to get the tee signs back out in the next week or so (just waiting on the power auger, which makes it so much easier).

See you out there soon.

Tim
