Bass Fishing Club at WCU

WCU BassCats. We compete at FLW and BASS collegiate level events across the country. We quickly became one of the most nationally recognized programs on campus.

The Western Carolina Bass Fishing Team is a thriving club sport at WCU, started in 2013. We promote the sport of competitive bass fishing while incorporating conservation in everything we do. Our goals are to become a nationally recognized bass fishing team and compete at the highest level possible. Bass Cats team members will compete in a variety of different fishing series and trails ranging fro

m local tournaments to national level tournaments. These tournaments include the B.A.S.S. Eastern College Series, FLW Southeastern College Series, and open tournaments around the region. As an affiliate of WCU and the local economy, we will promote Western Carolina University on top of helping regional and national companies market in the outdoor industry

Thank y’all so much for coming out. We had a great turnout this year with 49 boats. We were able to pay out 9 spots plus big fish. First place came in at 17.28 pounds by Charles Shook and Walker Gillespie. Second place had 16.72 pounds and a 6.5 pound big fish, by Seth and Keith Green. Third place came in with by 15.72 Coy Jordan and Tyler Mathis. Thanks again for coming out, hope to see everyone again next year.

Tough conditions on the MLF at Harris Chain. Josh and Dylan finished 82nd with 8.6 , Cooper and Justin had 5.9 and finished 129th.

Come on out to the annual BassCat Classic on lake Fontana to kick off the new year! There will be a guaranteed $1000 prize for first place as well as door prizes. We will also be starting the sell for our raffle tickets were you can have the chance to win a Traeger Grill or a Yeti cooler. Drawing for the raffle is March 1st. Hope to see a lot of you there!

Pretty good tournament on Lanier! Maitland and Seth got 10th with a bruiser for big fish. The rest of the team got some good team points for us.
