We are stoked that your kiddos are interested in Wrestling and we are here for it!
Wanted to share some info for our most common questions.
What are Open Mats?
-Open mats are basically a FREE preseason wrestling practice. We are opening the mats up early to allow new kiddos a chance to try it out BEFORE signups. We want them to come in have fun and get to work on learning the basics. We also invite our prior kids to come and work off the dust that may have accumulated from the last year. Either way it’s a great time and great work out. (We promise your kid will leave tired and hopefully wanting to come back ☺️)
Does my kiddo need anything for open mats?
-Not really. We do encourage you to bring a LABELED water bottle. When we have water breaks the drinking fountains can get backed up. So having your own ensures your kiddo can get back on the mat faster without waiting in line. Wrestling shoes are preferred, however socks are just fine for now. Absolutely NO regular shoes are allowed on the mats. Our mats are expensive and we need to take care of them.
*NOTE If your youth does sign up you will need shoes and headgear when the season starts*
When does the season start?
-Youth wrestling officially starts the beginning of November with our first Meet starting in Dec.
How do I sign up for the season?
-Come to Open Mats and pickup a packet! All registration packets are due by the middle of October. (Exact date to come). We have to order our warm ups and have enough of a turnaround time to get them back BEFORE our first Meet.
Does it cost to sign up?
-Yes. The registration fee is $100. We do offer sibling discounts. This fee HELPS to offset the costs of the season. It helps to cover the costs of warmups, USA cards, Meet/Referee fees, Awards, and our awesome end of the year party. 🎉
Don’t let our fee scare you. We can work with anyone on a payment schedule just come talk to me at open mats.
