A message from owner, founder and head Sensei Timothy Hoover:
As founder, owner and head sensei of HKA, I welcome you to our family. I have been training in the Martial Arts since 1973 and opened my first dojo in 1981. Since then, we have been perfecting our academy in many ways. I believe our approach to teaching is what makes us unique. Our style, Kwon Ryu Fu Chi Do, is a mixed martial art self defense system, pulled from six different Martial Arts: Tae Kwon Do, Shorin Ryu, Goju Ryu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Juijitsu. I started my martial arts training in 1973 at the age of 16, and I have received ranks in three different systems/styles. My rankings are as follows:
2nd Degree Black Belt under Master Nenou in Tae Kwon Do.
5th Degree Black Belt under Master Hawk in Sen Lin Chuan.
7th Degree Black Belt in Kwon Ru Fu Chi Do – the style in which I created and founded. I have also received training in the art forms of Tang Soo Do, American Kenpo and Jiujitsu. Our academy is family owned and operated. I have enjoyed my martial arts journey along the way, and take great pride in the friends and families whose lives have enriched mine. My goal is to continue to evolve by offering a realistic, street-smart self-defense style which also incorporates physical conditioning, mental focus, and emotional stability. I teach Kwon Ryu Fu Chi Do as a way of life, an opportunity to refine character, and the ability to increase self-awareness one day at a time, one person at a time.
