If you think kids shouldn’t strength train, you’re missing out on building a resilient athletic foundation.

At 9 years old, we aren’t chasing max weights or muscle hypertrophy. We’re teaching the brain how to recruit muscle fibers and control positions.

Look at this iso-hold split squat. By elevating the heel, we aren’t just challenging her quads and glutes. We are actively targeting foot strength and ankle stability. The foot is the only point of contact with the ground in sports. If the foot is weak, the whole kinetic chain suffers.

Isometric holds are an incredible tool for youth athletes. They build tendon density, teach body awareness, and force the nervous system to lock in, all with minimal joint stress.

Start them young, focus on mechanics, and build a robust foundation from the ground up.

The series continues. Flexibility and Strength are one and the same. Manual resistance exercises easily and safely serves the purposes of strength and flexibility. The human element of being able to constantly match the resistance to the client makes for an insane strength benefit on very few reps. Increasing strength through a greater range of motion then increases functional flexibility that lasts!

This isn’t your standard machine lift. By actively pulling one leg down into deep hamstring extension while driving the opposite knee up into hip flexion, you hit a massive, functional stretch at the absolute end ranges of motion. You are opening up the hips and firing up the core simultaneously.

But the real magic happens when you introduce manual resistance. Working with an experienced specialist/trainer means your load is customized second-by-second. Unlike a static machine, I can feel exactly where you are weak or where your form starts to break down. I can apply precise tension to force serious strength gains right at your weakest angles, while instantly backing off if form slips.

Strength and mobility go hand in when it comes to your posture and the way your body sends and receives messages about your environment and your ability to move about that environment safely and efficiently.

This mobility routine is the perfect way to warm up before a workout, before bed, or when you wake up! Feel free to add or remove sets based on your current capabilities. If 3 sets isn’t enough then try 4 or 5! Paying attention to what your body needs! Start with 3 sets of 10 reps for each one!
