Our Story
CABELA'S (1 CABELA DR, ALLEN, TX)·THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2019·

Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, was born somewhat inadvertently in 1961 when Dick Cabela came up with a plan to sell fishing flies he purchased while at a furniture show in Chicago. It generated one response. Undaunted, Dick formulated a new plan, rewriting the ad to read "FREE Introductory offer! 5 hand tied Flies....25c Postage....Handling" and placing it in national outdoor magazines. Fast forward to today, Cabela's continues to embrace the original philosophy instilled by company founders Jim and Dick Cabela. This dedication to the customer is just one of many reasons Cabela's is what the family always knew it could be - a dream come true. Moving Forward Together: “We are excited to unite these iconic American brands to better serve our loyal customers and fellow outdoor enthusiasts," said noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops Founder and CEO Johnny Morris. "As we move forward, we are committed to retaining everything customers love about both Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's by creating a 'best-of-the-best' experience that includes the superior products, outstanding customer service and exceptional value our customers have come to expect. We're also deeply motivated by the potential to significantly advance key conservation initiatives.” Cabela's Allen, Texas Retail store offers quality outdoor clothing and gear for hunting, camping and fishing at competitive prices.

" I loved the camaraderie, sitting around camp with my family, getting up early, and just being part of it all. That’s really where my love for the outdoors started.

Hunting has always been about more than harvesting an animal for me. It is about family, tradition, the outdoors, and passing those experiences on to the next generation.

That is what hunting means to me."
