Did you know that Big John McCarthy was heavily involved in the early stages of the UFC?

Launching his UFC referee career at UFC 2, McCarthy often gave feedback to the promotion on it's dangers and suggested additional rules to help keep fighters safe, many of which were adopted. 'Big John' also played a big role in the creation of the unified rules of MMA, which are followed today by MMA organizations across the US!

Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou will take place “under the official rules of professional boxing, with 3 judges ringside adopting the 10-point must system. Both fighters however are promising to meet in the middle of the ring, go to war and win by knockout in devastating fashion,” per a release. It will also take place “in a regulation boxing ring under the standard boxing rules.”
