Steven Carroll recently celebrated 35 years with the company and 21 years as Manager of Westervelt Lodge — a remarkable milestone reflecting his unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Steven is the longest-tenured lodge manager in the company’s history, surpassing even the legendary Ray Redmond, who held the role for 17 years, and he has consistently elevated the lodge’s performance, setting new benchmarks year after year.

Throughout his tenure, Steven has masterfully balanced honoring the rich legacy and traditions that define Westervelt Lodge with strategically modernizing its operations. Under his leadership, the lodge has embraced evolving technologies and enhanced services, ensuring it remains a premier destination in today’s world.

Good morning, friends & customers,
After 20 years at Westervelt, many of you have become more than customers—you’ve become friends. Over the past seven months, so many of you have followed my family’s journey as my 49-year-old brother, Brian, courageously battled pancreatic cancer.
Before he passed away, he had one final wish: to go deep sea fishing one more time. Thanks to Captain Alex McDuffie and the incredible crew of the Sea Hunter at Zeke’s Marina, that wish became a reality on July 3rd. Their kindness gave our family a memory we’ll cherish forever.

If you’re ever in the Orange Beach area, I hope you’ll stop by Zeke’s Marina, meet this amazing crew, or book a trip on the Sea Hunter. They reminded us that there are still truly good people in this world.

A Tuscaloosa man with pancreatic cancer got his final wish granted July 3 when a local charter boat captain saw a social media post from the family and offered to take him deep sea fishing off Orange Beach.

Governor Ivey has declared March as Prescribed Fire Awareness Month in Alabama, and it's worth understanding why this practice matters.

Prescribed fires are the controlled application of fire to a specific landscape, carried out by trained professionals under carefully planned conditions. Far from being destructive, they are one of nature's most powerful restoration tools.

Many plants and animals actually depend on prescribed fire to thrive. Longleaf pine ecosystems, native wildflowers, and wildlife species like the gopher tortoise all benefit from the periodic clearing that fire provides. It removes overgrown brush, recycles nutrients back into the soil, and reduces the buildup of debris that can fuel dangerous, uncontrolled wildfires.

This month is a great opportunity to learn more and support the professionals who carry out this critical work across our state.
