Saturday is a Rugby day!

Today we traveled to the South side to have a super match up with 5 other teams in a wonderful round robin. We combined with our close friends Kenosha Mammoths Rugby Football Club to take on a combined South Side Irish Rugby Northwest Indiana Rugby Club and and a tough . Unfortunately the matches didn't go our way but we all had a great day with wonderful friends.

Special note: our man of the Match was player coach Bill.E (no picture taken) Bill was a Monster on the pitch today with a MONSTEROUS hit in open space. Great job Bill!

With today's match we concluded our Spring season bringing our record to 2-5! We thank everyone we got to share the pitch with this Spring and look forward to shifting focus to Summer 7s!

Anyone interested in playing please come out our pitch is open to everyone!

UPDATE: This Saturday's game has now been turned into a 6 team round robin! Thanks to Kenosha Mammoths Rugby Football Club, UChicago Men's Rugby, McHenry County Vikings RFC, Chicago Blue Rugby, and Northwest Indiana Rugby Club for showing up! Kickoff will still be at 1 pm and all games will follow.

Saturday is a rugby Day!

We traveled to our friends to play a round robin today. Due to injuries on our side we end up combining with the Mammoths to play a strong we thank both sides for having us and playing good rugby.

For the second match in a row we name Griff our man of the match. The Mammoths recognized Griffs hard hitting and ask him to be the first player to sign their new hit stick! (Due to a Monsterous tackle in the match) Great Job Griff!

Next week the Vikings travel to NIU to play along side the NIU Alumni.

Saturday is a Rugby day!

The Vikings hosted benedictine university and NIU in a round robin today! The Vikings played strong and fast as we opened for our spring season and won both matches today!

We started the day with a fast NIU side. Vikings started strong with an 8 phase passing rely which lead to a try by Keith.R! NIU quickly answered with a Try of their own and a successful conversion. 5-7 the Vikings answered before the half coming out of a line out and got the ball out to the wing where Ed.G scored in a super man dive into the mud. After the half the Vikings and NIU were back and forth in the rucks until the Vikings marched down field and the clubs leading try scorer Zach.K (Huntley) drove in one final try with a successful conversion ending the first match 17-7 Vikings win.

Vikings remained on the pitch as a strong benedictine came ready to play. There was a lot of back and fourth until a penaltie gave the Vikings an advantage where Josh.H capitalized with a 60+ meter try! Soon after benedictine answered with a 50 Meter run and a successful conversion going into the half 5-7. Vikings quickly found themselves in the enemies 22 where a hard fought rucking battle took place until team captain and club president Gunnar.R score a try with a successful conversion. The Vikings would capitalize again before the final whistle ending the match 19-7.

Great job by all players and coaches today. Next week we travel to Chicago for another round robin on the upper Northside!

Saturday fun if anyone is interested!

It's that time of year again! Push away from the table and burn off some calories at the Woodsmen's 15th annual Turkey Bowl -Rugby style!
The Woodsmen invite all to join us on November 25th (Saturday after Thanksgiving), from 11am-1pm at Zocher Park in Schaumburg for a few hours of fun!
ALL AGES, COED, no experience necessary! Bring a friend, kids, soul mates! Anyone can partake in the games.
We will play touch rugby until we are satiated with delight!
