Dear Wrestlers, Wrestling Families, Coaches and Advocates of Wrestling,
Please join us in kicking off what will be the 4th year of the Auburn Slam Freestyle and Greco Club. We gain great satisfaction in wrestling’s never-ending pursuit of self-improvement and excellence and hope to share this passion with you. For our training program we will be using USA Wrestling’s core curriculum for Freestyle
and Greco Roman as our guidebook. To deliver those lessons set forth by USA Wrestling, the Auburn Slam is honored to have a coaching staff that I count as a blessing. As a collective, these coaches have been successful at high levels of competition as well as developed numerous past state champions. They are all purely volunteers and I hope they will be greeted with your respect and encouragement. Our hope is that the SLAM continues to grow as a sought after wrestling training center that develops athletes from all over the region. Our doors are open to anyone with a love of wrestling who can commit to respecting our athletes, our coaches, our volunteers, and themselves. In order to practice and compete with the club you must also have a USA wrestling card. USA Wrestling cards can be purchased on line at http://www.usawmembership.com/
In order to wrestle at tournaments, athletes will also need a reversible red/blue singlet or a singlet of each color. SLAM singlets can be ordered through Coach V***a. Fall Folkstyle practices are held Tuesdays at Auburn Mountainview and Thursdays at AHS. In the Spring for Freestyle Auburn Riverside will also host training sessions. We currently have a schedule of many of the competition events in the state. There is a great deal of hope and excitement among all of us coaches, athletes, and parents involved in the SLAM. May we come together with the common goals of self-improvement and excellence in sport. Yours in Wrestling,
The SLAM Coaching Staff
