To help the community prepare for the 2027 summer pool season, the Algona Family YMCA will be conducting a special lifeguarding program to help prep adults and retirees to take the lifeguarding certification course. Contact Cal Brandt, YMCA Aquatics Director, at 515-295-7701 for additional information. Lets keep the pools open all summer.

Congratulations to the 2026 Algona Recreation Department sand volleyball champs! The winning team was Back That Pass Up, which included Jesse and Wendy Hanselman, Lindsey and Levi Trauger, and Nate and Julie Voss.

Thanks to all the teams that joined us for another fun summer of sand volleyball!

The final day of swimming at the Algona Aquatic Center will be Sunday, August 2. A BIG thank you to the lifeguards, staff and swimmers who have helped make this a great summer at the pool!
