Last night we gathered, as a group, for the last time in 2025 to reflect on the season and fellowship with our families and friends in the officiating community. We are grateful to each and every official that volunteers to stand in the gap during this time of a historic, nationwide, shortage of officials.
We thank our spouses and significant others for their dedication in our homes as we have donated the past six months to this sport and avocation that we love.
We thank the retirees who joined us for a meal. These guys dedicated over twenty years of their lives in service to the youth of our community and are welcomed back to join in the fraternity each year for a meal and the ability to reminisce about games of years gone by.
Retirees in attendance were:
Wayne Ryan
Val Brown
Johnny Williams
Alfred Rachal
John Goodman
Philip Tassin
This year we were also honored to present the Billy Jack Booth Memorial Sportsmanship Award to Coach Robert Causey of Leesville High School. Coach Causey, along with his staff and the administration of Leesville High School excelled in exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship by the staff, players, administration, and fans. This award is selected each year on the basis of average scores of all sportsmanship evaluations completed by AFOA crews after each contest.
The AFOA and the LHSOA were also pleased to present a number of service awards this year ranging from 5 years of service up to 35 years of service.
Lastly, a special thanks to Buckets Crawfish & Seafood in Pineville for hosting us and providing an excellent meal and an inviting atmosphere to gather and share a good time.
