Did you know your child can practice swimming between lessons without ever getting in a pool? 💦

WeAquatics instructor Laurissa Skinner gives her students take-home activities all the time, and they really do make a difference.

Three of her go-to recommendations:

🫧 Bath time bubble practice
🥽 Getting comfortable wearing goggles around the house
🪞 Practicing streamline position in front of a mirror

None of these require special equipment or much time. They just help keep certain movements and skills familiar so swimmers can pick up right where they left off when they get back in the water. 🏊🏾‍♀️

Our latest blog breaks down all three with tips from Laurissa on how to make them work for your swimmer.

Your child is learning to swim, and that progress is worth celebrating. 💙

But knowing how to swim does not mean a child is fully water safe.

In our latest blog, WeAquatics instructor Laurissa Skinner shares why swim lessons are an important layer of water safety, but they should always work alongside active supervision, safe habits, and smart precautions around water.

Her reminder is simple and powerful:

“Being a good swimmer doesn’t make you safe. What it does is give you more time to react.”

Read the blog to learn what parents and caregivers can reinforce between swim lessons, why even strong swimmers still need safety precautions, and how to help your child build both confidence and respect for the water.

Every swimmer brings their own story to the pool. 💙🌊

Some need a quieter start. Some need more time to build trust. Some need an approach that truly meets them where they are.

That is what our Adaptive Swim Lessons are all about.

We create a supportive space for swimmers ages 4 through adult who benefit from a more individualized approach, with lessons led by Swim Angelfish® certified instructors who understand how to support different learning styles, sensory needs, and comfort levels.

We love seeing the moment a swimmer begins to relax, connect, and discover that the water can feel like a place for them too. 💦

Every swimmer has a beginning. 💙🌊

Sometimes it starts with a child learning to put their face in the water for the first time. Sometimes it starts with a teen building stronger technique. Sometimes it starts with an adult deciding it is finally time to feel more comfortable in the pool.

That is what we love about our Learn-to-Swim lessons.

We get to meet swimmers right where they are and help them grow with patient, personalized instruction, one small win at a time. For some, that win is blowing bubbles. For others, it is swimming a full lap with confidence.

No matter the age or starting point, we are here to help each swimmer build comfort, confidence, and skill in the water. 💦

Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, confident, and accepted in the water. 💙

This summer, WeAquatics was honored to partner with Kapable for its first-ever Discover & Demo Adaptive Aquatics Session, creating a welcoming space where children with intellectual and developmental disabilities could learn water safety skills alongside a trusted parent.

What made this event so special wasn't just what the children learned. It was seeing families feel supported, encouraged, and empowered every step of the way.

Our latest blog shares the story behind this partnership, the families who participated, and why expanding access to adaptive swimming matters.

For a lot of adults, getting to the pool is about more than exercise. 💙🌊

It is a chance to clear your head, work toward a goal, reconnect with a part of yourself, or simply do something that makes you feel strong.

That is what we love about Adult Masters Swim.

Our program gives adults 18+ structured workouts, coached support, and a swim community that understands the value of showing up, staying consistent, and making progress over time.

Some swimmers are training for races. Some are building endurance. Some are just happy to carve out time for themselves in the water. All of it counts. 💦

There is something special about learning in a group. 💙

A swimmer sees someone else try a new skill and thinks, “Maybe I can do that too.” A classmate offers a smile or a quick “nice job,” and suddenly the pool feels a little more welcoming.

In our Group Swim Lessons, swimmers build confidence, improve technique, and enjoy learning alongside others who are working toward their own goals too.

It is not just about swim skills. It is also about connection, encouragement, and growing together in the water. 🌊

We are now offering Group Swim Lessons at Marlton Swim & Recreation Club in Upper Marlboro, MD, in addition to our locations in Brambleton, Olney, and Rockville.

We now have morning Infant Swimming Resource™ lesson times available at Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, giving families another option to fit water safety into the day before schedules fill up.

Our ISR lessons are designed for children ages 6 months to 4 years and use short, focused, one-on-one instruction to help little swimmers work toward important self-rescue skills.

Morning lessons can be a great fit before naps, work, errands, school pickups, and afternoon activities.

Think you're the only adult who struggles with breathing in the water? You're not. 💙

One of the most common things we hear from adults is, "I just can't seem to breathe right." The truth is, breathing is often the biggest hurdle when learning to swim, not because you're doing something wrong, but because your body is learning a completely new rhythm.

In our latest blog, we explain why breathing feels so challenging at first, the most common mistakes adult beginners make, and how patient, personalized instruction can help you feel more comfortable and confident in the water.

Whether your goal is to learn the basics, overcome your fear of the water, or improve your swimming skills, every confident swimmer starts with that first breath.
