We polled our students and put together a club order for Via Media Publishing's new book, and it arrived today! This is a great resource for anyone looking to learn more about the history of our art, and related systems that Willem Reeders taught!

Erik was interviewed by Dr. Steve Pearlman for the Martial Theory Podcast. The interview touches on Erik's background, training and teaching philosophies, and what distinguishing attributes Erik sees in Liu Seong Gungfu.

Also check out Dr. Pearlman's book, Martial Theory, a great compendium of martial arts concepts and methods, approached from a broad perspective that can apply to any and all martial arts, without imposing the perspective of any one art on the topics.

Come join us for some FREE TRAINING in Kung Fu & Silat on Sunday, January 4th, from 2PM to 4PM at South Run Rec Center!
Our club will be featured during the Fairfax County Parks Open House event. Since people are welcome to come and go throughout the event, we'll holding multiple short sessions. We'll have four half-hour blocks, each starting with 5-10 minutes of demonstration, followed by 20-25 minutes of training with anyone interested in participating.

Note that the Rec Center's Open House requires people to sign up for a free trial membership. There's no cost, but I assume you'll have to give them some contact info.

Start 2026 out right! Kung Fu & Silat training in Alexandria and Springfield, Virginia, under the instruction of Erik Harris, martial artist since 1984, with 30+ years experience teaching classes and seminars.

Enrollment has begun for the Winter 2026 quarter at Franconia and South Run Rec Centers, and there's an early enrollment discount through Friday, November 7th!

Classes Saturdays and Thursdays, with free supplemental training available on Tuesday nights for all registered students.
