We hope you enjoy the holiday with family and friends! Please be vigilant and use all layers of protections when in or near water.
๐บ๐ธ Provide armโs reach supervision while swimming in the pool with your child.

๐บ๐ธ Designate a water watcher - this is an adult that is not distracted by alcohol, their cell phone, chatting with other adults, and has constant eyes on the water. Water watching shifts of 10-15 minutes work best - just ensure all adults acting as water watchers are not distracted in any way. Adult supervision is the most effective and important layer of protection.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ Most drownings occur during NON-SWIM TIMES! Know where your children are at all times. If your child is missing, check the water first.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ Pool fences, door locks and alarms, and pool alarms are all added layers of protection.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ Keep pools free of toys that can encourage children to attempt to grab them or enter the water alone to retrieve them.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ While in the pool, avoid the use of any flotation device (puddle jumpers, arm floaties, noodles, etc.). These devices keep children in a mostly vertical position (THE DROWNING POSITION) and give children a false sense of security.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets are recommended while boating and in/near natural bodies of water.
โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ
๐บ๐ธ Consider ISR lessons that equip your child with the skills and opportunity to survive should they find themselves in the water alone. This is ultimately the last layer of protection and can buy you time...time that is crucial. Please note that if your child has these skills, YOUR supervision and ALL layers of protection are still required. No child is drown proof.
