Most golfers try to fix fat shots by changing everything.

But sometimes, all you need is a better low point.

This simple tee drill gives you instant feedback:
✔️ Miss the tee behind the ball
✔️ Strike the ball first
✔️ Clip the tee in front

That’s how you train clean contact and move the divot where it belongs.

Nobody needs more than 90 degrees of turn. Nobody...

If you can get your arms to chest height and turn your chest to about 10 o'clock, that is a full backswing.

That's all you need.

Even if you have a sore back.
Even if you feel stiff.
Even if you've been told your whole life that you don't turn enough.

Here's the thing most golfers don't realize: the club goes way past where your body goes because of wrist hinge and momentum.

So when your swing looks massive at the top, it's usually not because you turned that much. It's because you went past your natural stopping point and the club kept going while your body lost its frame.

Turn to 90 degrees, let the arms ride that rotation, and trust that it is genuinely enough.

Here's a way of thinking about posture that will change how you set up forever.

Your arms naturally want to swing at about shoulder height, in a circle around your spine.
That circle is always going to be there.
The question is... where is it pointed?

Body rotation moves the circle around you.
Posture tips it down toward the ball.

That's it. That's the whole job.

When your posture is off, the circle disconnects from the ball entirely and you spend the whole swing trying to find something that was never aimed correctly in the first place.

Tip over into your posture properly and the circle points right where it needs to go without any extra manipulation.

Grip sets the face. Posture sets the circle.
Get both right and you've done most of the work before you even move.

Most chipping problems come down to one thing: too much hand.

When the right hand gets too active around the golf greens, it adds loft at the wrong time, flips through impact, and makes it nearly impossible to get a consistent strike.

Coach Matt's free fingers drill takes the hand completely out of the equation.

Two fingers off the grip, a little pistol shape, and suddenly the body has to do what it was always supposed to do. Lead the motion. Let the arms follow.

Try this at your next golf round and let us know how it goes in the comments.

And if you’d like to try it in person, comment MATT below and we'll send you his upcoming True Swing golf clinic schedule straight to your DMs 👇

Most golfers start by trying to fix their swing.

But before you think about power, speed, or mechanics, there's something more important:

Balance.

If your lower body isn't balanced, your upper body has nothing stable to rotate against. That's when the swing becomes inconsistent, manipulated, and difficult to repeat.

Balance is the first of the 5 Principles of a True Swing and every other principle builds on it.

A lot of golfers think of posture as just standing up straight or bending their knees.

It's neither of those things.

Golf posture is an athletic ready position, like you'd take in any other sport, with one important addition: you have to match it to the tool.

Hip hinge from the chest down until the shaft sits roughly perpendicular to your spine. That's the angle your swing circle is going to rotate on for the entire shot.

Get that right and the swing has somewhere logical to go...

But, get it wrong, and you spend the whole swing trying to compensate for a circle that was never pointed at the ball in the first place.

This ONE simple switch will make alignment feel 10X easier...

Instead of trying to aim your club face at a target 150 yards away, pick a spot on the ground just a few inches in front of the ball on your target line and aim there instead.

Your eyes are much better at confirming squareness to something six inches away than something 100 yards away. Aim to the spot, trust the spot, and the pin takes care of itself.

Tour players have been doing this forever. Now you know why.

You've been looking at the wrong line this whole time.

Most golfers try to square the face using the top line of the club.
That's not the one.

It's the bottom groove, closest to the leading edge, that needs to be parallel to your spine.
That's your reference point.

And here's why it matters more than you think.
Ten degrees open at address doesn't sound like much.

But at distance that's 100 yards to the right.

A small face angle error at setup compounds into a massive miss by the time the ball lands.

The good news is once you know which line to look at, squaring the face takes about two seconds.

Most golfers aren’t failing because of effort...they’re stuck because they’re trying to fix the wrong thing.

After coaching thousands of players, one truth stands out: it’s not about adding more swing thoughts… it’s about understanding what your swing is supposed to feel like.

That’s why so many golfers bounce from tip to tip without real progress.

At True Swing, we simplify the process — natural movement, clear feedback, and hands-on coaching that helps you build a swing you can actually trust.

No confusion. No overload. Just real improvement you can take straight back to the course.
