4 days ago the turkey hunting world lost one of its legends! I got to meet the colonel 10-12 years ago at a show. A lucky right place right time moment and got to speak with him for about 5-10 minutes…. People don’t think or speak like he did anymore! RIP Colonel Tom Kelly

SWING AND A MISS on a once in 2 lifetimes type deer!!

After getting to listen to the hunter recount of the shot and the fact he was smoked out upon the shot…I decided to call in blood creek deer recovery. They arrived onsite this morning and located the deer within 5 minutes and we were able to get a decent look at it… we determined the shot was lower leg or shoulder and non fatal.

STANDBY…. This one may not be tracked until morning…. Waiting on more details!

I’m posting this to show opportunity… it is not intended to be an avenue for any of you guys to make goofy comment toward the hunter ..
Making a mistake happens! In this case obviously it is not what most folks are coming to Kansas for but it happened. The hunter who has been here multiple times and killed 180s with me is miserable about it and as I told him it comes with the territory. We have policies in place to deal with these type things and it’s taken care of and he has rebooked for 2028. Also big shout out to bloodcreek deer recovery for helping us out. Deer did not bleed a drop for the first 1/2 of the track and began to bleed just 50 yards or so before where he went down. Shot was perfect but being smoked out on the shot the hunter had zero details so we elected to call Corey and have him bring the pups!
Again congratulations to everyone involved…. On to the next one!!

Train keeps rolling… seems to be a little uncertainty about the shot so for now…..STANDBY! Nonetheless another opportunity for one of our hunters!
