Our USATFMasters Region Coordinator and 13-time World Masters Athletics (WMA) medalist Damon Blakemore (pictured at far right end) is a competitor and delegate for the Masters World Outdoor Championships, August 21 - September 3 in Daegu, ๐ฐ๐ทSouth Korea.
At the recent WMA General Assembly, Blakemore's leadership efforts were part of a successful bid for Houston to host the World Masters Outdoor Championships in 2030. ๐
๐บ๐ธRepresenting Team USA in Daegu, Blakemore is scheduled to compete in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. His message is:
"I have always been fascinated with achievement. That fascination has brought me many challenges, and Masters track and field is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Iโve gone from seeing whether or not I could do it, to seeing if I can do it better than my competitors, to striving to do it continuously. On this journey, I have made many friends around the world, many who happen to be my fiercest competitors.
The โvillageโ consists of a universe of people who โget itโ and the World Masters Championships are the place where we all put our best on display. Letโs all show up and show out!!"
