SECOND SKILLS CAMP MARCH 29th!
Dear High School and U15 Rugby Coaches,
The second skills camp is Sunday, March 29th, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. There is a nominal fee of $10 per player to participate (same for all camps), and all funds raised will go to the travel account for the Challenge Teams that will complete in Denver on June 20th and 21st.
The Challenge Program as been established to offer top level coaching and skills development for all boy and girl players in the State of New Mexico at the U15 to U19 age levels, which in turn will improve the overall play and skills for all clubs in the state. Players participating in the program will also have the opportunity to be selected to state representative sides at U17 and U19 (for boys) and U19 (for girls) to compete in the Rocky Mountain Challenge in Denver on June 20th and 21st. The head coach for this year’s Challenge Program is Mr. Angus Peacock of Black Dragon Rugby.
For more information on the Challenge Program please visit the NMYR website at www.newmexicoyouthrugby.org.
NMYR and Coach Peacock need your help to make this program a success. This is what all coaches can do to help this program:
Encourage all your players to attend the camps whenever possible. At a minimum all players stand to benefit from skills development, which in turn will improve the overall play of their home clubs.
As a coach, attend the camps and learn alongside other coaches new methods and techniques to take back and teach to your players.
Help us find sponsors and financial backers for the program. The number one deterrent to participation on past select side teams has been the financial burden placed on players to participate. Our goal would be to eliminate this entirely with the right backing from sponsors.
Please do not hesitate to contact Coach Peacock, NMYR or any of the assistant staff if you have any questions.
Ruck, roll and rugby happiness,
Tom
