Greetings archery friends!

There are still a couple more days to register for this years state outdoor. Deadline is July 15 and you must have a USA Archery membership to participate.

To make this happen, we need lots of help on the set-up and tear-down, including someone who can pick up and drive a U-Haul truck to move all the equipment on those days. If you are available and willing to help, please sign up here:

New Mexico Archery fam, the City Shooting Range Park is working to build another great archery facility! Please see info below from Dave Simon, Director of Parks & Rec, and share, share, share….

Dear New Mexico Supporters of Archery:

Please contact your state legislators today and urge them to allocate some of their capital outlay funds to the Shooting Range Park (SRP) to help the Parks and Recreation Dept. construct a new, state-of-the-art outdoor archery range.

SRP is the largest and most important facility for recreational shooting sports in central New Mexico. SRP has been neglected for years and has extensive capital infrastructure needs to improve the facility for public use and law enforcement use. SRP attracts public users from the entire Albuquerque/Bernalillo Country metro area, as well as surrounding counties.

The City of Albuquerque is seeking a total of $7M for SRP this year; including $2M for public range improvements. If we get them, a significant portion of these funds will be used to build a top-notch archery range at SRP that will serve the entire region and also host events and tournaments that will bring in tourism dollars to the area.

Legislators will finalize their capital outlay decisions by February 26, so now is the time for archery supporters to make their voices heard with legislators—especially those from Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, Sandoval County, and Torrance County. When contacting legislators, urge them to support capital outlay request LCS #3992.

The two legislators who have the Shooting Range Park in their districts—and whom it is most important to contact are:

Representative Joy Garratt, House District 29, [email protected]
Senator Harold Pope, Senate District 23, [email protected]

But, as we know, an archery range will serve the entire regions, so anybody can ask their own legislator to help fund this project. It is easy to email and/or call your state legislators. Find you state senator(s) and state representative(s) at: https://www.nmlegis.gov/Members/Find_My_Legislator

Thank you for supporting archery and Shooting Range Park!

Dave
