Catskill Basketball Summer Development

As the school year comes to a close, it is important that our basketball players remain focused on their overall development. Improving as a player goes beyond simply playing games. Athletes can continue to enhance their ball handling, shooting efficiency, finishing moves around the basket, basketball IQ, and overall scoring concepts.

Throughout the summer, we will work together to provide opportunities for our players to develop these skills. We will be bringing in area coaches, college coaches, and specialized skills trainers from outside the area to help expose our athletes to a variety of teaching styles and experiences.

For this program to be successful, we need complete buy-in and support from our families. Consistent attendance, effort, and commitment will be key factors in helping our players reach their full potential.

Our goal is to continue building a basketball program that represents Catskill with pride and competes at a high level within Section 2. By investing in our development today, we are laying the foundation for future success both individually and as a team.

Tomorrow, the Middle School PE Department launches its first-ever biking unit! Throughout the unit, students will develop bicycle handling skills, learn important safety practices, build endurance, and gain confidence riding in a variety of settings. We look forward to providing a fun, active, and educational experience that promotes lifelong healthy habits and responsible cycling.

Today, the Catskill Athletic Department and Superintendent Mr. Shah, along with Assistant Coach Doug Lampman, presented a certificate from the New York Giants recognizing Coach Andy Gonzalez as the Flag Football Coach of the Week.

We would like to acknowledge and congratulate Coach Gonzalez on this tremendous honor and thank him for the outstanding job he did throughout the season. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to our student-athletes have made a lasting impact on the program and our school community.

Alumni Game 🏀🏀🏀🏀

The 2nd Annual Catskill Alumni Basketball Game was held last night, bringing together graduates from Catskill High School. Thank you to all of the alumni who participated and helped make the event a success. Alumni from the Classes of 2000, 2007, 2014, 2017, 2024, and 2025 enjoyed returning to the gym and reconnecting through the game they love.

States:

Zwange Edwards and Aiden Krakenberg were back at it again today, qualifying for multiple events in the NYS Track and Field meet in Rochester next weekend. Zwange won both the finals in the 100m and 200m and will be heading to states in both events setting 2 new school records! Aiden will now also be running the 100 hurdles after qualifying in the 400 hurdles yesterday. He also broke his school record he set yesterday. Ben Munoz competed today as well and threw his last shot as a Catskill Cat. Congratulations to all these athletes!
