OH MY! This HEAT! This is when a true love and commitment to golf is shown. These are the days that the preparation pays off so much. During the summer at open golf days I tell the girls there will be days like this and we have to push through and get ready for them or your body just will not accept the conditions. They are not happy campers during those practices! They could not show up. They could refuse and find excuses to leave. But they do not! They stay voluntarily and they know I'm helping them for their own good.

Yesterday evening was the test! There were at least 5 girls from other teams that just couldn't do it for one reason or another. The coaches were on high alert. The spectators were making water trips to help refill water bottles. The SHADE was everyone's BEST FRIEND and we encouraged rest breaks. I was a mess in a cart running from girl to girl making sure they were doing ok and providing anything they needed.

Our girls on that course played in those conditions like champs! They moved forward hole to hole with pure determination. At the end, the score card said ALEXANDER 2ND PLACE, well maybe in golf shots but to me they were CHAMPIONS. We were led by Adison with tying her personal best with a 48! Next Lacey with a 52, Greta with a 54 and Nina with a 60. Awesome golf girls!! The other two in the match Brooklynn Brannon - her 1st official match with a 63 and Reegan with a 64 completed our field.

They walked off the course with pride and I was beyond proud of them. Not because they golfed on a hot evening but because ALL 16 Alexander golf girls put in the work and prepared for days like these. VOLUNTARILY! They are just awesome young women!

Oh and I had 5 other girls out there practicing on that course too! Grace, Daphne, Jessica, Ashleyy and Emerson could have stayed home in the AC and had many excuses not to make the trip but they showed up VOLUNTARILY and worked on their shots. These newbies and others who had commitments and couldn't make it, absolutely amaze me each week. ALL my girls show up! All the time! Unless it's not possible because of a legitimate reason. They are loving -and some times hating- iykyk πŸ˜‚ Golf. They are AWESOME young women and I am blessed to be their coach!

Back at it next Tuesday at Athens/ Athens Country Club and Wednesday at Fed Hock/ Oxbow. Sure hope it's cooler! I'll keep you posted πŸ˜Šβ›³οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

Another GORGEOUS evening to golf!! Franklin Valley is always a fun trip....YUMMY places to eat afterwards! πŸ˜‚That's what all my girls are looking forward to as they hit that ball around the course. Dairy Queen sure did make them all smile! 4th Place made a few frowns on faces. And also the news that Dolly Pardon had passed away. Who knew that all my high school girls were Dolly fans? But then again who wasn't? πŸ˜”

We didn't golf bad. No we golfed pretty well but no one was especially happy with their rounds. Golf is just mean like that. BUT some golfers on the other teams were HOT! Wow a girl from Wellston had a 53 the night before but someone must have made her mad because she came out and had a 42 last night. AND a FRESHMAN from Waterford had a 50 the night before and had a 44 last night. And the list goes on! They were HOT and we were NOT. I should say just NOT AS HOT. 😊

Adison and Greta both shot 50 and tied for 6th in the top ten. That is pretty HOT!! Lacey had a 56 and Mia had a 60. All good scores in my book but others just shot better for the team total. We had 2 newbies in the match and they played GREAT. Mada with a 61 and Jessica with a 63.

So all in all a great evening at Franklin Valley and Dairy Queen. Who could ask for more!! πŸ˜ŠπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ›³οΈβ€οΈ

A beautiful ride and beautiful plush course to look at but not quite the making of the most perfect golf conditions. The country side and the course could not be greener and that grass could not be thicker. August is quite unusual isn’t it? Mowers can’t mow and mud and water make the usual mess. Normally Lakeside GC is just a perfect evening of golf but these storms lately have taken its toll everywhere. We saw grass in the middle of fairways 12”tall and puddles just as deep with ruts just as wide as the girls and boys try to golf this month. But they do it! And somehow the scores are much better than I anticipate.

We came up 1 stroke short of 2nd place yesterday and just 6 strokes from 1st. Wow this leaderboard is super tight every match. 3rd Place finish with a great effort from ALL my girls!! A bit mud covered but all smiles.

A big congrats and hug to Adison with leading the way with a 48. Her personal best!! A great birdie on hole #7! A beautiful par on hole #6! All on a course that took some strength to maneuver. So happy for her and SO PROUD OF HER!

Greta came in with a 51, Lacey with a 55, Mia with a 57, Grace (in her 1st official TVC match) with a 59 and Nina with a 60. These 6 girls gave us the leadership to keep trying our best no matter what lies in front of us. They impress me so much and I am SO PROUD of all of them. The other girls who were available were practicing very hard on the other side of that tough course too. A beautiful evening to be on the course no matter what!! Today we head to Franklin Valley. Tomorrow to OU- our Home Match. WOW!! What a week! I’ll keep you posted πŸ˜ŠπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ›³οΈβ€οΈ

Last evening was great! We had girls at the course playing in a match and we had the rest of our team at the high school participating in the "Meet The Teams" evening. The match went great. We came in 3rd with Adison leading the way with a 52. And she had an AWESOME very long putt for birdie on hole #5. Greta and Lacey both came in with 55 with one hole they sure would like to do better. Nina with a 56 played such solid golf all evening. Reegan with a 57 had an exciting 6th hole, ALMOST her first birdie. Sawyer rounded out the group with 64, maybe not her best score but boy was she having a blast out there with her group. It's not always about the numbers folks!
So great to be back on the course in between rainy days. It's challenging this season for sure. So proud of the girls on the course and at the high school representing us all!! Alex they make us proud! They do things RIGHT when things are happening all over that course and in life that make you raise your eyebrows a bit. Alex girl golfers hear this constantly - attitudes, kindness and integrity are the 3 things above all else that qualify you for the team since I don't feel I should do try outs. These girls pass with flying colors. I'm so so proud of them and so happy for them with every great shot, chip or putt. πŸ˜Šβ›³οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

I know, I know you've already heard, but as I read this article in the Messenger this morning I had a huge smile on my face so I had to share it. I know it's just one match, but it's years of hard work that every single girl who has hit a ball on the OU golf course during hours of practice can say they contributed to. Yes that is the way I look at it. Every girl has help make this SUCCESSFUL golf program. Girls talk. High school girls talk to each other, LOTS! πŸ˜‚ Either positively or negatively. The positive talk from every single girl has helped make this happen. I think of each and every one of them as I read this!! They will always have a special spot in my heart for TRYING something so new and SO HARD. Yes, it's just one match and one win but it's five years of hard but FUN times with a total of 34 beautiful, positive, talented, brave, and AMAZING ALEXANDER GIRL GOLFERS.

AND CHECK THIS OUT!!! TIED FOR 1st PLACE! WE DID IT! OUR FIRST 1ST PLACE FINISH IN A MATCH!!

I am SO SO PROUD of these girls!! They have worked SO HARD! GOLF IS HARD!! The match yesterday was FULL of mud and water but 40 girls from 11 schools golfed for hours with the best attitudes. There were way more smiles and laughs and words of encouragement around the course than frowns or complaints. And if you have tried to golf in these type of conditions this is a real compliment to them all. AND IT WAS HOT! That's a complaint from this ol' coach πŸ˜‚

There were 12 of my 16 girls on that course somewhere all evening. Some in the official match some practicing to get better. Like I say all the time, We make it work with all these girls.

Our leading scorer - Lacey Doering! She had her personal best in a match with a 49!! A couple of weeks ago Lacey had her personal best and the Alex girls best score ever at practice with a 42! Lacey is showing that hard work, dedication and great attitude pays off. We all are so happy for her!

Adison with a 53, Greta with a 56, and Mada with a 62 all showed great endurance on some tough spots on that muddy course and finished well to help us hang on to that 1st Place Finish. Mia - 63 and Reegan- 65 rounded out our 6 playing in the match with scores right there with others. Did I say how happy I am for them all and how proud I am to be their coach!!!

It was a fun time at McClure's after the match! Some still had not let it sink in until we got there that we tied for 1ST. πŸ˜‚ They just golf and try their best and wish that their score was better every single time they are on a course. That is what golf does to you. It's a bit unfair really, you ALWAYS want a shot back, a putt to have fallen, a chip to have been longer or shorter, just a stroke or a few strokes better. But for this match we will take it just as it is and ENJOY OUR 1St PLACE FINISH - ALEXANDER GIRLS GOLF 2026!!! πŸ˜Šβ€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈβ›³οΈ

Joining in on Senior Sunday! Alex Girls Golf has two of the BEST!! Adison Appleman and Greta Meyer have both been on the golf team for all 4 years. Wow! The first 2 to accomplish this since we started. They joined in with the attitudes and dedication that make them everything this coach would ever want. They have FLOURISHED! Their Senior season is just beginning and I have no doubt that they both will rise to their new personal goals that will be the anchor for the rest of the team. They prioritize golf with the importance of being there for and with the team at all times. Gosh I just can't believe they are Seniors!! Gonna miss these two SO SO MUCH! πŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ›³οΈ
