Dallas FCC/Nitro Chaos update.
I'm a little late on the update I know. We have been going over everything trying to get to the bottom of another rod failure.
It really felt great to be back at the track with the team and with the entire Funny Car Chaos Nation. One of the highlights of the weekend was finally getting to meet Mr. Nitro Helper Jerry Newman! Jerry has been mentoring me over the phone on nitro for years and it was a real treat to have him in our pits and looking things over. The character on the inside of the escape hatch is dedicated to Jerry and shows the BIG Nitro Needle Jerry warns everyone about.
We also had a great time pitting with friends Twisted Sister Nitro FC. Thursday night the ladies did up a great taco party after their team went out and laid down some personal best e.t.’s in testing. Congratulations! It was also nice to have David Stringer there. David works on Collin's team and came over and lent us a hand several times and I really appreciated it!
Also on hand for his first dose of nitro was Cecil Hickman from Tripak Superlubricants. If you follow us, you see their logos everywhere. It was great to finally meet Cecil as well and let him get a firsthand look at our operation. Thanks Lee Ramey for getting Cecil to the drag races.
We made our first hit on Friday, and it was soft. 4.24. The track was super and our car dead stuck the tire. Ultimately, we qualified for the B field in NITRO CHAOS in the #4 position. Oh yeah, we signed up for Nitro Chaos this time around.
In the first round we matched up against the Nitro Monkey A/Fuel Dragster team. Great bunch and very cool to line up a Big Block and a Small Block Chevies both on nitro. We ended up getting the win and for some reason it broke the #3 connecting rod ending our day.
While telling a few people who asked about our weekend, I used the old adage a bad day at the track is still better than a good day at work. But really it wasn't a bad day at the track. It's about the people and we had fun with family and friends and all of the Chaos family.
We will miss the Tucson race for the Fuel Altered Nationals as we try to recover and repair. Next race is Odessa Tx at Penwell Knights Raceway for the West Texas Nitro Showdown for the tracks 60th Anniversary. Go to the page and look for the ad. It's going to be a good show.
The photographers killed it this weekend. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed your pictures this past weekend!
Big thanks to Dennis Atwell for making the trip out and introducing us to his "Danger Dogs" There was no shortage of food that weekend. And as always, a big thank you to the entire team. It was a thrash all weekend. I promise I'll get it figured out and we will get back to burning nitro and hauling ass!
