Now Brewing: The Local Partners with Team Alameda

Located right in the heart of downtown Alameda at 1333 Park Street, The Local has quickly become a go-to neighborhood spot. Known for great coffee, they’ve also built a strong following for their fresh pastries and thoughtfully prepared food offerings—from baked goods to simple, satisfying breakfast and lunch options that hit perfectly before or after a ride.

Beyond the menu, it’s the vibe that really stands out. The Local is the kind of place where people gather, connect, and stick around a little longer. It’s welcoming, laid-back, and rooted in the community—exactly the kind of business that aligns with what Team Alameda is all about. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick espresso or settling in for a longer with friends, it’s a spot that feels easy and familiar.

As part of this partnership, we’ll be making The Local a regular post-ride destination, with plans to wrap up Team Alameda rides at the picnic tables in the parklet out front. It’s the perfect setup to grab a coffee, refuel with a pastry or bite to eat, and hang out after the ride. We’re excited to create more of those post-ride moments that bring the group together while supporting a great local business.

Supporting our sponsors is what keeps this club thriving—so next time you’re rolling through Park Street, swing by, grab something good, and show them some love.

Big thanks to The Local for supporting Team Alameda—we’re so excited to have you on board!

Team Alameda is thrilled to announce our new sponsor: Park Station (https://parkstation.beer/), located at 1200 Park Street in Alameda.

In case you have not yet visited, Park Station is known as a family-, dog-, and bike-friendly gathering spot in Alameda with a great beer garden, plenty of outdoor space, and a chill, social atmosphere. They are located right in the heart of Alameda’s lively downtown corridor—making it easy for club members and visiting riders to drop in and connect.

Park Station offers a classic craft-beer garden atmosphere: 30+ rotating taps (craft beer, cider, seltzer, non-alcoholic options) in a relaxed indoor/outdoor setting. With their large outdoor patio, event space, and rotating offerings, we see lots of opportunities for post-ride gatherings, socials, and club-friendly special events.

We are deeply grateful to Park Station for stepping up as a sponsor of Team Alameda. Their commitment helps our club in so many ways—more rides, more community building, more fun on and off the bike. Please join us in giving them a warm Team Alameda welcome and support.

Here’s to many rides, many beers, and many good times together—with Park Station in our corner!

Team Alameda Welcomes Alameda Brewing as Our Newest Sponsor!

Team Alameda is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Alameda Brewing, a local gem that shares our passion for community, camaraderie, and the joy of the ride. As a proud sponsor of our club, Alameda Brewing (formerly Alameda Island Brewing) is helping us continue our mission of promoting fun, fitness, and friendship through cycling - and allows us a friendly neighborhood place to end our club rides!

Alameda Brewing has long been a cornerstone of the Alameda community, known not just for its outstanding craft beers, but also for its welcoming atmosphere and support of local causes. Whether it’s hosting weekly trivia nights or taking part in the various street fairs around town, they embody the same community spirit that drives our club. We’re excited to join forces with a business that values connection and local pride as much as we do.

Let’s be honest—few things go better after a good ride than a cold, well-earned beer. With this new partnership, we’re looking forward to post-ride meetups, special events, and maybe even a custom Team Alameda brew down the line. Please join us in raising a glass to Alameda Brewing for supporting our cycling community—cheers to the road ahead!

We encourage all Team Alameda members to show their appreciation by stopping by Alameda Brewing for a pint, picking up a pack to go, or bringing friends to experience their rotating lineup of locally crafted beers. They are located at 1716 Park Street, about a block away from the Park Street bridge, and their website can be reached at www.alamedabrewing.co. Supporting our sponsors helps strengthen the entire cycling community—so ride often, ride safe, and drink local! Thank you so much, Alameda Brewing!

Team Alameda is happy to announce our newest sponsor: Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), our hometown public power company.
AMP was founded in 1887 and is the oldest electric utility in California. AMP is also a leader in clean energy development, reliability, and affordability. Customers in Alameda receive 100% carbon-free power and save approximately 40% on their bills compared to PG&E rates.

Further, AMP supports our community through its commitment to Alameda’s Climate Action and Resiliency Plan. Besides providing clean power, AMP offers programs and incentives for energy efficiency and electrification of our transportation sector. As such, AMP shares Team Alameda’s goals of encouraging cycling and clean transportation in Alameda and providing support for E-Bike riders.

Hey Team Alameda! We have two new sponsors supporting our group!

First up is Alameda Art Lab.

Alameda Art Lab offers classes in mosaics, stained glass, fused glass art and jewelry, wire art, painting and drawing for adults and youths. Located in Alameda, Alameda Art Lab also offers after-school classes, summer camps, parties (think birthday, bridal, girls' night out, you think of it, and they will help host it!) and team building events.

Alameda Art Lab is owned and operated by JaYing Wang, a mosaic and glass artist, art teacher and business owner in Alameda since 2005.

JaYing Wang has taught art classes to hundreds of adults and children. She has been a mosaic and glass artist since 1995 and an art teacher since 2002. In the mid-2000's, JaYing owned Children's Art Studio in Alameda, CA, where she taught art to pre-school children and elementary school kids. She has also taught after-school art classes for Alameda Education Foundation, teaching at most of the elementary schools in town. In addition to teaching classes, JaYing also loves to work on large commissions. She has created many public mosaic murals in collaboration with schools (locally, she has installed murals at St. Phillip Neri, Otis Elementary, Bay Farm Elementary and Amelia Earhart school), as well as commissions for churches, restaurants, and even the South Shore shopping center.

You can check out the upcoming art classes being offered at Alameda Art Lab by visiting their website: www.alamedaartlab.com.

Second up is Buestad Construction.

We are very happy to announce that local firm, Buestad Construction Inc., has agreed to sponsor Team Alameda for the 2024-2025 season! We are very proud to join the list of other local community organizations that Buestad supports, such as Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley, the Alameda Architectural Preservation Society, the Alameda Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Alameda Point Collaborative among others.

The Buestad family has been active in the construction industry since founding a business in Norway in 1900. In 1948, Buestad Construction was founded, and quickly became an Alameda asset by building the Alameda Municipal Golf Course and other private and civic projects.

This year, Buestad Construction celebrated 75 years in business in the United States. Run by Team Alameda member, John Buestad (the third generation of Buestads to run the US organization), the company focuses on completing commercial builds, modern residences, and historic renovations across the Bay Area. As their website states: “Buestad Construction brings the spirit of collaboration to each project. The company is known for its accommodating style, its willingness to experiment and research—all in support of ensuring client and design team goals. With over 75 years of building, Buestad knows the importance of delivering both the big vision and the exacting, minute details.”

If you are looking at a commercial build or a home renovation, please consider supporting Buestad Construction. You can see examples of their beautiful work by visiting their website at www.buestad.com.

The 2023 Team Alameda “away weekend” of riding is only a week and a half away! Just like last year, we are going to hit the roads around the Russian River and will have our “base” be downtown Occidental.
The dates are October 20th (Friday) to 22nd (Sunday).
The Occidental Lodge, which is in downtown Occidental and close to several restaurants, set aside a block of 10 rooms for us. Please check out the lodge at https://www.occidentallodge.com/. Call the lodge to make reservations and tell them that you’re with “Team Alameda”. Their phone number is (707) 874 3623.
If you would rather stay somewhere else in the area, or you didn’t jump on the reservations in time and the Lodge is all booked up, here are other options in the area:
• Inn at Occidental (really close by)
• Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay
• Lots of other hotels and AirBNBs in Guerneville
We will have options for riding, both distance and pace, and will do our best to make sure that everyone has places for refueling along the way. We are organizing a SAG car for us. We hope that you consider joining us for a fun weekend of riding. Please let us know that you are intending to join in on the fun by joining our Discord thread at -ride-occidental-2323, or dropping me an email at [email protected], so that we can be sure to include you in our dinner reservations and ensure that you are part of the crowd when we roll out for our rides. If we have not heard from you by this Friday the 13th, we cannot guarantee that we will have a seat for you during our group dinner on Saturday.

The Occidental Lodge is a 28 room 1970’s motor lodge nestled in the redwood mountain vista of Occidental on the famous Bohemian Highway corridor . We are centrally located within minutes of award winning wineries, the Russian River valley, the infamous California Highway 1 and the Sonoma Coast. Wa...
