Wrestler Spotlight of the week!

Bradley Leif Williams – Spain Park High School
Signed with Maryland

Bradley began wrestling for a short period in Virginia before relocating to Alabama fourteen years ago. His early years included a combined 1st season record of 0-18 and no youth state championships, but he continued to improve through persistence and discipline. There were several times when he wanted to quit, but no one let him. A key turning point, though accidental, was when he began hitting his “whip” at the end of elementary school. It brought more wins, confidence, and negative comments by parents and coaches as a unfair move. It leveled the playing field, allowing him to always be in the match, gain the feeling of success, and time to continue to learn and adapt it.

Wrestling for Spain Park High School in 7th grade for varsity shaped his confidence. He started on a team that generally didn’t bring up middle school students, and he quickly connected with the coaches and teammates. His relentless training with club teammates, competition across the nation, coaches, and high expectations, fueled his rise. He saw brothers and sisters from HS and club achieve success through their own persistence. He eventually mastered that “whip”, creating his own unique style. Combined with his pace and character, it catapulted him into achieving significant milestones. He became the most decorated wrestler in Spain Park History, #7 Alabama Career Wins, 3x MVW, and 4x NHSCA All-American. His career is further highlighted by receiving the Dave Schultz High School Excellence award and signing with Maryland as a Big Ten Wrestler, as a Top 250 prospect in the nation for the Class of 2026.

It has not been without challenges, including losses, injuries and diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes leading into his junior year. His mental strength and character have gotten him through it, backed by family, coaches, and friends. His ability to adapt to obstacles, show resilience, and humility is what has enabled him to succeed. The challenge with diabetes is daunting but it hasn’t changed his identity. He is still that same kid, with a big heart, that has become a quiet leader and role model. He is surrounded by an unimagined following of fans these past few years. It’s important to him to represent Alabama like many before him and continue to show others it’s not how you start, but how you finish. He will leave in just over a week to start the process all over again as a Maryland Terp.

Congratulations to all of our Fargo Qualifiers(1-6th). Off season is where you make the biggest gains. Here's the USA bracketing results. I've seen errors with it.. If we missed anyone, we apologize. Please comment. It was a busy weekend and a ton of wrestlers. Coaches were spread thin! Thanks to everyone for making it a success.

Wrestler Spotlight of the week!
Justin Harbin – Brookwood High School
Appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy

In a sport defined by intensity, grit, and constant pressure, every team needs someone who brings purpose—and for our wrestling program, that person is this week’s senior spotlight.

Known not only for his dedication to wrestling but also for his strong faith and character, he has quietly shaped the culture of the team in ways that go far beyond wins and losses. While wrestling demands physical toughness, he consistently demonstrates a deeper kind of strength—one rooted in discipline, humility, and purpose. He leads not with volume, but through consistent actions: showing up early, putting in the work, and treating everyone with respect. His faith plays a central role in that approach, guiding how he competes, how he handles adversity, and how he supports those around him. While injuries hampered several of his HS seasons, his devotion to his faith and dedication to the sport has not stopped him.

Coaches and wrestlers describe him as someone who brings intensity into the room, with his headgear that if isn’t carrying every known skin infection, has enough exposed surfaces that will get you another way. He is one of the hardest workers in our room. Wrestling rooms can be intense environments, but he helps steady that energy—reminding others that who they are off the mat matters just as much as what they do on it. His quiet leadership, and positive attitude, while delivering our prayer has made a lasting impact on younger wrestlers learning how to navigate both wrestling and life.

As he prepares to move on from high school wrestling, his legacy won’t just be measured in matches or medals, but in the example he set. He leaves behind a standard of integrity, faith, and leadership that will continue to influence the program for years to come.

Simply put, he made the team better—not just as wrestlers, but as people. Aim High in June as he heads to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Wrestler Spotlight of the week!
Martin “Sean” Thomas – Gardendale High School
Signed with Milwaukee School of Engineering

If personality was an All-American, this wrestler would be a National Champion multiple times over. His personality is infectious. There are so many days you want to yell at him and then you realize this is just Sean and you love him regardless of his shenanigans. As we try and coach these kids, we try to remind them that they are on their own journey. They should never measure their progress against someone else’s journey. We all get on this train at different times, speed through the journey or take our time for various reasons. Sean is one of those wrestlers that has unlimited potential. He has not hit his peak and when he does watch out.

Nicknames are sometimes formed in our room either because we don’t see you enough and you become the name of the High School you attend or something occurred where it was just formed. These nicknames can be a blessing or a curse, in his situation, obviously an unplanned circumstance. However, his personality continually defeats any negativity. He survived it, made it his own, and even when he couldn’t make it with the national team one summer, kids from far away were asking where he was using the infamous nickname. This wasn’t because of the name itself, but because of the genuine person he is and the comedic presence he brings. He’s the biggest kid we have currently and when he figures out what he can do with his athleticism, wit, personality, and brilliance it’s going to be special.

All of that aside, keep an eye on him as he travels to Wisconsin to continue his academic and athletic career. His goal is to become a software engineer and if that doesn’t happen, find him on an Improv Comedy Tour.
