Say hello to Sweat's March Member of the Month: Shane P.!
He's been a member just shy of a year, and shared some of his thoughts on his first 12 months of membership.
Q: What have you gained since joining Sweat Akron?
A: Honestly--a lot. First, I've gained confidence in my knee that I haven't had for the last two years which has allowed me to get back to being the active dad that I want to be. Over the last several months, I've lost 15lbs and have started gaining muscle mass that I had lost during my recovery. And finally, I've developed a really great community of regular members and two awesome trainers that all notice when you don't show up and help hold me accountable.
Q: What is your favorite block?
A: Tread is my favorite and always my starting point. Assault treadmills were new for me when I started at Sweat and I've really enjoyed it. I find running first really helps get the early morning blood flowing and warm up my knee. We recently did a cardio circuit that included both tread and bike, which was super challenging, but awesome at the same time. That has been my favorite workout so far.
Q: What is your favorite workout focus?
A: I prefer the lower body focused workouts. I tore my ACL/meniscus last year so I'm really trying to build my leg strength back in hopes to get back on the soccer field again soon.
Q: What would you say to someone who is considering joining?
A: Sweat is the place to go if you want to be challenged by a unique workout. It's great for anyone, but especially working parents who have limited time. Get in, get out in 45 minutes and feel like you accomplished something when you're done. I can go in the morning, still groggy, without the need to be creative and make up my own workout--it keeps things fresh and new. I guarantee that anyone would feel the same way after they complete their first work out with Travis and Sydney!
