🏁 Weekend Recap: Clinton County Drama & A Podium Finish at Port Royal! 🏁

What a wild, action-packed weekend for Garman Racing β€” a dominant heat win, a mid-race rain delay, and a huge 2nd-place podium finish at Port Royal!

Friday 8/7 – Clinton County Speedway
β€˜Cowboy’ Jim Kennedy Memorial

31 cars rolled into the pits for this special 50-lap Speedweek-format event featuring group timed hot laps, fast-time qualifiers starting 4th, and heat winners heading to the feature redraw.

Zach drew a 32, placing him in Group B. With four cars on track, he timed 7th, lining him up 3rd in Heat 3.

At the initial green, he dove to the bottom and cleared the 2nd-place car β€” but a jump call on the pole sitter brought a full restart. On the second attempt, Zach made a quick move to secure 3rd and held strong to finish there, locking straight into the 50-lap A-Main.

With the Speedweek format, the usual 12-car Racesaver redraw wasn’t used. Starting 12th after a memorable 4-wide salute to the Cowboy, Zach hit a rough patch in turns 1–2 at the start, bounced off a few cars, and slipped to 14th. He regrouped fast, charging to 10th by lap 25 β€” right as light rain red-flagged the race.

During the mid-race pit stop, the crew topped off fuel and dialed in the setup for the final 25 laps. Once the track crew worked their magic, Zach clawed his way to 7th, then settled into a strong 8th-place finish after a late-race shuffle. πŸ“ˆ

Saturday 8/8 – Port Royal Speedway
Saturday night at Port Royal (30 cars in attendance) was pure magic.

Zach drew an 18, starting 4th in Heat 1. At the green, he shot the gap between 2nd and 3rd entering turn 1, hunted down the leader, and completed the pass on the front stretch to lead lap 1. From there, he checked out β€” stretching a half-straightaway lead to WIN the heat by 3.5 seconds! πŸ†

Redrawing the 6 for the feature, Zach wasted no time. He picked off cars early, climbing to 4th off turn 2 and slicing into 3rd by lap 3. By lap 10, he was all over 2nd place, and the battle was on. As they fought, both closed in on the leader.

Zach executed the pass for 2nd on lap 14 and kept charging, even while navigating heavy lap traffic. When the checkered flew, he crossed the line with an incredible 2nd-place finish! πŸ₯ˆπŸ”₯

What a night, and what a weekend for Garman Racing!

🏁 First 358 Outing: The One That Got Away! 🏁
We finally got our 358 out on the track for the first time this season on Saturday night (8/1) at BAPS Motor Speedway for Mickley's Orchard & Farm Market Night!

The Heats:
Zach drew a 10 to start the night. Hot laps didn't quite go to plan as the engine was stumbling through the corners like it was starving for fuel. The crew went to work, changing the main pill and high-speed pressure to get more fuel to the motor.

Lining up 2nd in Heat 3, we rolled out on a basic baseline setup. Zach dropped back to 5th early, but wrestled the car back to finish 4th, locking into the A-Main redraw! The fueling changes helped, though a subtle stumble remained.

The Feature:
Zach pulled the 2 pill for the feature start. We swapped the right rear bar and adjusted the gear to get the setup closer to our 305 package. At the drop of the green, Zach launched into the lead, stretching out a 10 car-length advantage!

He commanded the field for the opening laps before disaster struckβ€”the fueling gremlins returned, causing the engine to stumble in the corners and completely shut down on the front stretch.

The Takeaway:
It’s a tough pill to swallow, but the speed is undeniable. We proved right out of the gate that this team has the setup and pace to contend for 358 wins. Now, it's back to the shop to solve the fueling mystery and get ready to run up front again! πŸ› οΈβš‘

🏁 Port Royal Recap: Heavy Fields & First-Lap Fireworks! 🏁
After enduring a couple of frustrating rainouts, we were finally back on the clay last night at Port Royal Speedway! The 305 RaceSaver series was out in full force with a massive 46-car field in the pits.

The Heat Race Charge:
Zach drew a 33 to start the night and clocked in 6th quickest in hot laps. Lined up to start 7th in Heat 1, a mechanical issue for a car ahead shifted Zach up to the 5th starting spot.

When the green flag dropped, Zach put on a absolute clinic. He immediately dove underneath P3 and P4 on the start. Slicing into turn 3, he drove it deep under P2, completing the pass mid-corner. By the time lap one was officially in the books, Zach had rocketed from 5th to 2nd! He set his sights on the leader, pulling away from the field and closing within 10 car lengths, ultimately crossing the line in P2 to secure a spot in the feature redraw!

The Feature:
Zach pulled a 5 for his starting position in the 20-lap A-Main. He got slightly bottlenecked at the drop of the green, slipping back to 6th, but quickly recovered. He waged a fierce battle in the top five, climbing as high as 4th before trading sliders with the 4th and 6th place cars for the remainder of the race.

When the checkers flew, Zach brought the home with a rock-solid 5th-place finish! πŸ“ˆ

It was a long, grueling night at the track with a mid-program rain delay and Kids Night activities, but we will gladly take a Top 5 against 46 cars. Time to tear the car down, wash the mud off, and reset for a massive double-header next weekend!

🏁 Weekend Recap: High Speed & Heartbreak 🏁

We had plenty of speed this weekend, making the redraw both nights, but racing luck just didn't fall our way in the features.

Friday Night: Selinsgrove Speedway (6/13)
With 14 cars in attendance, Zach started the night drawing a 21 and timing a solid 4th quick in hot laps. He lined up 2nd for his heat and brought it home in 2nd, locking into the redraw where he pulled the 5 for the feature.

At the drop of the green, Zach jumped up to 4th. But as the laps clicked off, we realized we just missed the setup on the car. A string of multiple cautions didn't work in our favor either, costing us 3 spots on the restarts. Zach fought hard and crossed the line with a 7th-place finish.

Saturday Night: Port Royal Speedway (6/14)
We rolled into Port Royal with a heavy 36-car field. Zach drew a 14 and, for the second night in a row, clocked in 4th quick in hot laps! He started 3rd in his heat and held steady to finish 3rd, making the redraw yet again and pulling a 7.

During the feature, Zach was locked in a fierce battle in the Top 10. After slipping to 9th, he was actively fighting his way back forward when disaster struck. With just 2 laps to go, the 8th-place car spun on his own right in front of us.

As Zach put it: β€œI just picked the wrong way to go in that split second.” With nowhere to go, we slid into the spinning car, ending our night early with a 25th-place finish.

It’s a tough pill to swallow when you have that much speed, but that’s racing. Time to regroup, thrash in the shop, and get the car dialed back in for next weekend!

🏁 Hagerstown Recap: Driving Through the Field!
After the high of Friday night's win, we headed to Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday for the Spring Fling with 34 cars in the pits.

The car owner drew the pill... and let’s just say drawing a 191 out of 200 wasn’t exactly what we were looking for! πŸ˜‚ That buried Zach back in 8th (dead last) for Heat #4.

But Zach went straight to work, driving his way up to a 4th-place finish to lock us directly into the A-Main.

Starting 16th in the feature, the car was hooked up. Zach sliced through the field to bring it home with a rock-solid 7th-place finish! πŸ“ˆ

The car was incredibly fast all night. We know we just needed a small gear change and a little more stagger to have it fully dialed in, but we will absolutely take a Top 10 after starting the night that far back.

Huge thanks to the crew for another grueling weekend, and to all our fans and sponsors for riding along with us! Next weekend, we do it all over again. πŸ› οΈπŸ’¨

πŸ† FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON! πŸ†
After a frustrating rainout last weekend, we bounced back in a MAJOR way last night at Clinton County Speedway!

Friday Night: Clinton County Speedway (5/15)
The night started with a draw of 13 and clocking in 10th quickest in hot laps. Zach rolled off 2nd for his heat race, rocketed to the lead at the drop of the green, and dominated to take the HEAT WIN! 🏁

That put us in the redraw for the 25-lap feature, where Zach pulled a 3. At the start, he immediately jumped into 2nd and held it down through multiple cautions. Then, drama struck on lap 20β€”the leader was sent to the work area with a dragging brake caliper, handing the lead over to Zach.

After a fierce battle with the new 2nd-place car and surviving one final caution with just 2 laps to go, Zach hit his marks and drove it straight into VICTORY LANE! πŸ₯‡πŸŽ‰

πŸš€ Next Stop: Hagerstown Speedway TONIGHT (5/16)
No time to celebrate just yet! We are loaded up and heading to Hagerstown Speedway tonight for the Spring Fling! We'll keep the momentum rolling and bring you another update after the checkers drop.

Thank you to our incredible crew, fans, and the amazing partners who make nights like last night possible! ⬇️

🏁 Week 3 Recap: The Ultimate Comeback!

Talk about a rollercoaster weekend. From mechanical heartbreak to a Hard Charger performance, the Garman Racing team never gave up!

Friday: Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park
The night started strong with Zach Scott Rhodes timing quickest in hot laps! Unfortunately, something shifted in the rear during the heat, leading to a 9th-place finish. Starting 17th in the feature, Zach had worked his way up to 12th when a red flag came out. During the wait, the temps spiked to 270Β°. With the car not cooling down under green, we made the call to pull off early to save the engine.

Final Position: 15th

Saturday: Port Royal Speedway Trackside Media (The "Adventure")
Saturday was a true test of this team. A grinding noise in the rear kept us out of the makeup feature and the heat race. We discovered a failed birdcage bearing, but even after swapping spares, the noise persistedβ€”the rear end was shot.

The crew went into "full thrash" mode, swapped the entire rear end, and got Zach Scott Rhodes out just in time for the B-Main. He drove from 10th to 5th to transfer! Starting 23rd in the A-Main, Zach drove his heart out to finish 8th, earning Hard Charger honors for the night! πŸ†

Final Position: 8th

πŸ› οΈ Huge Crew Shoutout!
We wouldn't have made it to the track without the incredible effort from the guys who thrashed on the car:
Sean Garman, Scott Garman, Scott Rhodes, Gary Kerstetter, Will Duncan Jr., Kenny Smith, and Terry Aultz.

Special Thanks:
Jaylena Schmidt for feeding the crew and keeping Zach focused!
Norman & Jenn Rinehart for being our calm in the storm.
Katlin Aultz for helping your dad with the SxS and car help!
Will Duncan Sr. for the support and for just being you!

🏁 Week 2 Recap: Hard Charging & Late-Race Drama!

Week 2 is in the books, and it was a busy one with two season openers!

Saturday Night: Hagerstown Speedway (Season Opener)
With 39 cars in the pits, we drew a 2, putting Zach Rhodes Racing on the pole for Heat 1. The luck didn’t last longβ€”a left rear flat after just one lap sent us to the work area. The crew got it changed, and Zach drove like a man possessed to finish 5th and transfer to the A-Main!

In the feature, Zach started 17th and picked off 4 cars on the opening lap. He battled his way into the Top 10 and was making a move for 8th when a yellow flew with just a few laps left. He restarted 10th and held steady to the checkers.

Final Position: 10th (from 17th!) πŸ“ˆ

Sunday: Clinton County Speedway (Season Opener)
After a short night of sleep, we headed to Clinton County. With 17 cars on hand, we drew a 16. Zach Rhodes Racing started 4th in his heat and finished 5th, making the redraw where he pulled an 8 for the feature.

The track conditions were toughβ€”dry, choppy, and blinded by dust. Zach dropped to 11th on the start but clawed his way back to 6th. Then came the "deja vu" yellow flag with 1 to go! On the restart, the grip just wasn’t there, and we slipped one spot in the final turns.

Final Position: 7th 🏁
