📚 What exactly is Bookworm Yoga?
People often ask us how movement and storytelling connect to early literacy.
The answer is…in more ways than you might think!
While we’re not teaching children to read in our classes, we are helping build the foundation that reading grows from.
During every Bookworm Yoga adventure, children practice:
✨ Listening to and following a story from beginning to end
✨ Learning new vocabulary through meaningful, engaging adventures
✨ Predicting what might happen next and solving problems alongside our characters
✨ Answering questions, sharing ideas, and building oral language skills
✨ Remembering story events and connecting the lesson to their own lives
✨ Developing a love of stories through movement, imagination, and play
When children become part of the story by buzzing like bees, climbing hills with snails, swimming with fish, or exploring with crabs, they aren’t just moving their bodies. They’re actively engaging with language, comprehension, sequencing, and storytelling in a way that’s memorable and fun!
