***From the Desk of the President***
Teams,
Both old and new, this message applies to all teams in the Friday Night SNR league at Apollo.
I was hopeful when returning to Apollo this year that we would be able to enjoy it as much as the several years we bowled at old “Turkeyfoot.” I was excited to bring the activity to a local small business. Unfortunately, we are at an impasse with ownership going forward and we are moving the league to Spins Bowl in Akron. This is not a decision I take lightly as we had several new teams join this year and it certainly doesn’t make anyone’s life easier and will undoubtedly create an unnecessary fracture in what should have been a nice year of growth for our league.
That being said, this ownership group has turned out to be utterly unprofessional, unreasonable, and unprepared to host leagues effectively to a point that I cannot in good faith support their effort going forward. They’ve proven to be incompetent and unable to complete the most rudimentary of House operations. If I can’t trust them to do the bare minimum for our league, I shudder to think of what the next shoe to drop may be. What else are they unprepared for? What other responsibility might they shirk in the future because they simply “don’t want to do it.”
Frankly, with leadership and administration at this incredibly low level of acumen and service, I’m not even confident that this place will keep their doors open long enough to complete our league and we’ve already been through that in that particular house once. In 30 years of bowling in leagues this is without a doubt the most poorly run professional establishment I have ever seen, by an exponential margin.
Honestly, I’m embarrassed that I took the action to move our league there. I got caught up in the idea of what it could be and the expectations of others rather than make a more practical, conservative decision that was in the best interest of the league.
For those of you who knew my father, Big Ken, know that he would have never stood for the tomfoolery, shenanigans, and lies that were aimed at making their unpreparedness appear to be standard operating procedure.
Thus I’ve made the decision to move to a House that I’m confident can carry out all the necessary functions of a bowling alley and will respect and appreciate our business.
Craig and Kati will continue to run a league at Apollo for teams that wish to stay. We’re not telling anyone what to do but we would be happy to have as many teams as possible come with us.
We have a number of teams already coming with us to Spins, if you would like to join us, please reach out ASAP and let me know so we can make accommodations for additional teams.
Thanks and good bowling!
