Ahead of the upcoming U.S. Open Cup Qualifying rounds, Akron City FC is excited to announce two internal promotions as the club continues building for the future.

Neso Ivanis has been named Head Coach, effective immediately.

Neso has been an integral part of our coaching staff for the past three seasons, making a major impact both on the field and on the recruiting trail. Most recently, he played a key role in helping the team close out the 2026 season with five consecutive victories.

The player experience off the field is just as important as the results on it, and Neso has helped make Akron City FC a trusted destination for players and a club that college coaches feel confident sending their athletes to each summer. He has a bright coaching future ahead of him, and we are thrilled that he will continue that journey with Akron City FC.

After four successful seasons leading the club on the field, Andy Hoggarth has been promoted to Sporting Director.

During his tenure as Head Coach, Andy compiled a 25-17-10 record and guided Akron City FC to three consecutive winning seasons. In his new role, Andy will remain an important part of player recruitment while also assisting ownership with additional ventures that will be announced soon.

Congratulations to Neso and Andy as they begin their new roles!

The next chapter starts now.

Bonus soccer is coming to Northeast Ohio! 🏆⚽️

Akron City FC will travel to Avon to face the Lorain County Leviathan in the opening round of U.S. Open Cup Qualifying.

The two clubs split their 2026 meetings...the rubber match for the team from the Rubber City.

It’s a battle between two strong USL League Two Clubs and we’re starting to think the other teams chipped in to make sure Akron City and Lorain County eliminated one another in the opening round.

For Northeast Ohio soccer fans, it’s an early-round treat that feels more like a final.

Two local rivals. One spot in the next round. All part of the country’s oldest and most prestigious soccer tournament.

🏆 U.S. OPEN CUP QUALIFYING UPDATE 🏆

Akron City FC is officially hitting the road!

We’ve drawn an AWAY match in the first qualifying window, scheduled for the weekend of September 12–13.

We expect to learn our opponent, official date, time and location early next week.

Akron City FC is officially entered into the qualifying rounds for the oldest and most prestigious soccer tournament in the United States, with first-round matches beginning as early as mid-September.

After the heartbreak of our 2025 penalty shootout loss, we're ready for another shot.
