One parenting hill we’ll gladly die on:

We don’t co-sleep.

And before anyone gets upset…

This isn’t an attack on families who do.

Every family has to make the decisions that work for them.

This is simply what has worked for ours.

We’re huge believers in sleep training because we believe sleep is one of the greatest gifts you can give your children—and yourself.

Rested kids are happier.

Rested parents are more patient.

And strong families are built on strong individuals.

We also believe our marriage deserves protection.

Before we were Mom and Dad, we were husband and wife.

And taking care of that relationship isn’t selfish.

It’s one of the best things we can do for our children.

We want Aly to know she’s deeply loved.

But we also want her to know she is capable.

Capable of sleeping independently.

Capable of self-soothing.

Capable of growing into a confident little girl.

For us, the goal has never been dependence.

It’s connection.

And we believe those are two very different things. 💛

Yesterday was one of those days.

Aly woke up way too early.

Which meant she was exhausted all day.

Which meant there were tantrums.

Tears.

Frustration.

More yelling than we’d like to admit.

And if we’re being honest, there were moments where Katie and I snapped at each other too.

Not our best day.

But one of the most valuable things we’ve learned in therapy is the idea of rupture and repair.

The rupture is the mistake.

The yelling.
The snapping.
The overreaction.
The missed workout.
The drive-thru lunch.
The weekend that went off the rails.

The repair is what happens next.

The apology.
The conversation.
The ownership.
The decision to try again tomorrow.

Because the rupture isn’t what does the damage.

It’s when we never repair it.

That’s true in parenting.

It’s true in marriage.

And it’s true in your fitness journey too.

One bad meal doesn’t ruin your progress.

One missed workout doesn’t erase your results.

One rough day doesn’t make you a bad parent.

The goal isn’t perfection.

The goal is getting really good at repair.

5 years together under Akron Strength & Wellness. 💛

When Katie joined ASW in 2021, neither of us knew exactly what the next five years would look like.

What we did know was that we wanted more freedom.
More impact.
More control over our lives.

Since then we’ve had…

3 mentorships

2 pregnancy losses

1 dream home

1 amazing daughter, Aly

1 baby boy on the way

400+ moms helped

Countless long days

Countless sleepless nights

And more moments of doubt than we’d ever admit on Instagram.

There were seasons where we were scraping by.

Seasons where we wondered if all the sacrifices, risks, and investments would ever pay off.

But quitting was never really an option.

Because we knew the life we wanted.

A life where we could travel.
A life where we could be present with our kids.
A life where our schedule belonged to us.

And while we’re incredibly proud of the business we’ve built…

We’re even more proud of the life we’ve built together.

Here’s to five years.
