The Fermata Club is a member-owned swimming, tennis, and social club in the heart of historic Aiken with 5 tennis courts, pickleball, and an Olympic size salt water pool. The Story of The Fermata Club
The Fermata Club is a social swim and tennis club founded in 1952 by a group of 16 families who first leased the property of the former Fermata School for Girls and then bought the property after the group had grown to 115 families. The Club added more tennis courts, then enlarged the existing pool and more recently, replaced the pool with a new 25 meter competition pool with a diving well. The Club is located in the historic downtown district and rents the Gymnasium from the Fermata School for Girls as a venue for a variety of uses including weddings and receptions, graduation events and family reunions. The Fermata Club is a member owned facility and use of the facilities is limited to the members and their guests. Public events are sponsored including the Annual Polar Plunge in the pool in January. For these events, the public is invited to spectate and participate. In addition, the local high schools host their swim meets at Fermata pool. These swim meets are open to the public. The Fermata Club offers swim lessons, tennis lessons and hosts a summer camp.
