FGF Nautical Gem “Gem” 💎
2017 16.2hh OTTB mare by Gemologist

Just completed Novice CT at TIP championships finishing top 10 and has her sights set on a Novice schooling HT in a couple weeks (around the same course the recognized runs!). I can easily see this mare going training by spring with how trainable and willing she is.

Gem is incredibly willing and has all of the talent needed to continue up the levels of eventing! She is compact with a powerful hind end, beautiful uphill build creating a great natural balance, and the gaits to be competitive in the dressage, as well. She is incredibly brave on cross country, and I have yet to find anything on cross country she even thinks about taking a peak at.

While Gem is not a difficult ride, she has a lot of natural power, is very smart, and is sensitive to aids, and she would do best with a rider who understands this. She would make an incredible horse for a young pro or an ambitious, good riding junior or amateur. With the right rider, I could see this mare being incredibly competitive in FEIs and continuing up the levels easily.

Young Event Horse Championships 🙌

We are so proud of FGF CreamRisestothetop for competing at the YEH Championships and finishing 14th!

Ashlyn, Salem’s owner states, “A little over a year ago my trainer, Kaitlin Hartford with KH Eventing, started talking to me about buying a horse and of course I was interested from the beginning. She had mentioned this 3 year old chestnut mare who was directly off the track that she was getting as she had her full sister in the barn a few years prior.
Kaitlin planted the seed in my head that the 3yo mare could be mine, so of course I took that idea and ran with it. Salem was the only horse I ever tried, and it was the best decision I’ve made bringing her home.
Salem really made it worth while when we came to Maryland for the YEH championship. She finished 14th, and I’m just so proud of her. The dressage has been a work in progress, but watching my young horse confidently march around a bigger track was incredible. A year ago when we started this journey, I didn’t expect such great things to come to quickly. I’m so excited to continue watching her grow and seeing where she can take me. I’m so thankful for everyone that made this possible, including wonderful parents. She really is the best thing that has ever happened to me! ❤️”

Congratulations to owner, Ashlyn Strong and rider Kaitlin Hartford on a great performance with a lovely young horse. The future is bright!
