Congratulations to our small pack of Rhinos who ventured to Maui to compete in the 2024 Hawaii Youth Folkstyle Wrestling State Championship. With only 8 wrestlers we still managed to bring home 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 fourth place finishes. Also was tied for third for best winning percentage. Very proud of the kids. Thank you to coach Janine, our junior coach Serah, and coach JayDee Kollasch for stepping up last minute to help coach. We needed everyone as we had 4 kids Wrestling at once multiple times. Another memorable Maui adventure.

This past weekend was the RMN Freakshow event held in Las Vegas. There were 4800 wrestlers that competed. We had several Rhinos that entered. Some placed and earned All-American honors (top 6):

A big CONGRATS to all that competed and placed. It's not always about winning, but more so about the lessons that were learned and the experience that was gained. A big THANK YOU to coach Dave who flew up to coach these kids during the grueling 2 day tournament that had him there from 730am to 1030pm. Pictures to follow as I receive them. USA Western State Championships in Greco, Freestyle and Folk has just completed. It was held up in Farmington, Utah in conjunction with the team duals. 5 days of wrestling over the course of 6 days. Several Rhinos went up to compete and performed exteremely well. Awards are given out to the top 6 placers as well as an All-American status. Results are below:

Chloe Obuhanych - 3rd (Greco), 6th (FS) & 2nd (Folk)
Layla Pasion - 1st (Greco, FS & Folk)

Layla and Micah won 1st place in all 3 styles and garnered them the Triple Crown Champion award. Micah was also able to achieve the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the 10u age division.

It's not always about the destination, it's the journey. The kids wrestled their butts off and gained valuable experiences. They battled thru injuries and elevation fatigue and never gave up or quit. They showed grit and determination which made everyone extremely proud. A big thank you to all the coaches and parents for a wonderful experience as this was truly a team effort.

Yesterday completed day 1 of Turf Wars in Utah. Several of our Rhinos who competed in the 12u, 14u and High School Team duals performed extremely well. Team Hawaii was able to capture the 12u co-ed Greco championship, winning against teams such as Oregon, Alaska, Utah and others. Today is day 2 which will be Freestyle.

This weekend completed our Greco and Freestyle season. Championships were held at Moanalua High School, and the kids did not disappoint. The kids battled their hearts out and a lot were able to walk away with some hardware. Congrats to all the competitors and the following for winning the triple crown award (champion in all 3 styles: Folk, Greco & Freestyle):
