We’re opening the Ahoskie Youth Center TODAY at 4:00 PM for a sweet celebration! Bring the kids out to enjoy FREE ice cream while supplies last and celebrate with us.

Did you know? 🍨 July is National Ice Cream Month, and National Ice Cream Day is celebrated every third Sunday in July, thanks to a proclamation by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Join us for an evening filled with laughter, creativity, and family fun as we bring the beloved story of The Lorax to life!

📚 Enjoy a special book reading by our local librarian, Angel Staton
🎨 Create your own Lorax-themed craft
🎥 Then grab some popcorn and settle in as we watch The Lorax together!

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free. This day reminds us of the importance of freedom, resilience, hope, and the ongoing journey toward equality.

For our young people, Juneteenth is an opportunity to learn about history, honor those who came before us, and understand the value of standing up for justice and treating others with kindness and respect.

🎉 Fun Fact: While many Juneteenth celebrations feature the colors red, black, green, and gold to honor African heritage, the official Juneteenth flag is actually red, white, and blue! The colors remind us that African American history is American history, and the star on the flag represents freedom and a bright future.

At the Ahoskie Youth Center, we encourage our youth to learn from the past, celebrate progress, and continue building a future filled with opportunity, unity, and love.

*🌱🎨 What an incredible evening! 🎨🌱

The Ahoskie Youth Center would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our Paint-a-Pot Event last night! What started as a fun night of creativity, learning, and planting quickly turned into an amazing overflow of support and participation. We were blessed to welcome so many families that we actually needed more space than anticipated, and we couldn’t be happier about it!

From the colorful flower pots and smiling faces to the hands-on lesson about plant anatomy, the room was filled with creativity, laughter, and community. A special thank you to The Seed of Life Farm for helping make this experience educational and engaging for our youth.

We also want to give a huge shoutout to the adults who joined in on the fun! Seeing parents, grandparents, and community members painting right alongside the children made the evening even more special. It truly showed that learning and creativity have no age limit. 💚

After 24 hours of unity, fellowship, community engagement, youth activities, prayer, and purpose, we invite everyone to join us as we bring our very 1st Annual Ahoskie Peace Collective 24 Hours of Peace event to a meaningful close.
