I recently got married and it was a beautiful, incredible wedding! I felt more stunning than I ever have before. When it comes to body image and feeling confident there is a theme. Be as small as possible. Shredding for the Wedding. Make sure that dress fits. Sound familiar?
I wanted to be careful about how I viewed my prep for my wedding day. I knew I would be surrounded by dozens of people from all areas of my life. I also knew I’d spent my whole 20s unlearning the ideology of Thinner is Better.
So, here are the 4 things I did to feel my best for my wedding day:
- I kept my 80/20 lifestyle. I still had an occasional drink or dessert leading up to the 3 weeks before the wedding. At this point, I wanted to eat cleanly to ensure my body was feeling energized and healthy. With my autoimmune condition, I know what foods are not energizing for my body and which ones are! I cooked from home as much as I had the energy for and began adding in a little bit of cardio.
- Began drinking a massive amount of water! We all know our skin often shows our internal health. With the extreme heat that California has been feeling this summer, I knew I was needing a little extra.
- Viewed it as “self care.” I wanted to feel calm and spoiled prior to a big, stressful day. I went out for a facial, a manicure/pedicure, a lash treatment.
- I activated my muscles and moved my body several times in the morning of my wedding! I brought a long band and used it to activate my upper body, showing off the muscles I’d worked so hard for. I also walked around the Airbnb while my team was getting their hair/makeup done.
I was purposeful to NOT eat less or feel depleted. Instead, I focused on whole foods and what movements brought me joy.
And on my wedding day? I felt beautiful and strong and capable 🤍
(Swipe all the way to see me activating muscles with a band before walking down the aisle 😂)
