Me: carefully picks a weight that allows survival

Coach: “absolutely not.”

Next thing I know he’s loading the bar like I’m qualifying for the Olympics and physically removing me from the situation 😭

Every coach has two goals:

make you stronger
completely ignore the weight you wanted to use

💡 Tip Tuesday: How to Properly Perform Walking Lunges

Walking lunges are one of the best movements for building leg strength, balance, coordination, and stability — but small setup mistakes can make them feel awkward very quickly.

A lot of athletes either take steps that are too short, lose balance, or let their posture collapse as fatigue sets in. In this clip, we’re breaking down how to stay controlled and efficient through every rep.

What we’re focusing on:

• taking controlled, balanced steps
• keeping the chest tall and core engaged
• tracking the knee properly through the lunge
• driving through the front leg to stand strong

The reason this matters is because walking lunges train single-leg strength and stability — something that carries over to almost every athletic movement and everyday activity.

When done correctly, walking lunges help improve:

• lower-body strength
• balance and coordination
• hip stability
• movement control under fatigue

This is another great example of why coached training matters. Small adjustments in posture, step length, and balance can completely change how effective the movement feels.

🏋️‍♂️ Speed. Precision. Commitment.

The barbell sn**ch is one of the most technical and rewarding movements we train.

It takes strength, timing, mobility, coordination, and confidence all working together in one explosive movement. And when everything clicks, there’s nothing quite like it.

In class we focus on:

• staying connected to the bar through the pull
• generating power from the hips and legs
• moving efficiently under the bar
• finishing in a strong, stable overhead position

The sn**ch isn’t about muscling the weight overhead — it’s about timing, positioning, and precision.

That’s why coached training matters so much with Olympic lifting. Small adjustments in setup, bar path, and movement timing can completely change how the lift feels and performs.

Whether you’re brand new to barbell work or refining advanced technique, the goal is always the same: move well, lift strong, and keep improving rep by rep.

If you’re in Agawam, Westfield, Feeding Hills, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts and want coached strength training that helps you build skill and confidence under the bar, we’d love to have you.

Trying to explain the workout while the class collectively loses focus in the background 😅

Coach: “Alright guys, so for the deadlift—”

Members behind him: immediately turn the gym into recess

Every class has at least one athlete listening… and two causing problems 😂

🎳 Fitness Can Still Be Fun

Sometimes the best way to teach movement… is to turn it into a game.

In today’s kids class, we mixed things up with a little “bowling” using wall balls and dumbbells — and the smiles say it all.

But behind the fun, there’s still purpose:

• learning how to control weight
• developing coordination and accuracy
• building confidence with movement
• staying active in a positive environment

That’s what our kids program is all about — teaching proper movement and building strength, while making sure kids actually enjoy the process.

Because when it’s fun, they want to come back. And when they keep showing up, that’s where the real progress happens.

If you're in Agawam, Westfield, Feeding Hills, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts and looking for a coach-led kids fitness program that balances structure and fun, we’d love to have your child join us.

💡 Tip Tuesday: How to Properly Flip a Tire

Tire flips are one of the best ways to build full-body power, explosiveness, and real-world strength — but technique matters more than most people think.

A lot of beginners try to lift the tire with their arms or round their back too early. In this clip, we’re breaking down how to create a strong starting position and use the legs and hips correctly through the movement.

What we’re focusing on:

• setting the feet in a strong, balanced position
• keeping the chest up and back tight
• driving through the legs like a powerful deadlift
• transitioning quickly from the pull into the push

The reason this matters is because tire flips should be driven by the lower body and hips — not just brute force from the arms and back.

When done correctly, tire flips help build:

• explosive hip power
• full-body strength
• conditioning and work capacity
• coordination through dynamic movement

This is another great example of why coached training matters. Small changes in setup and timing can completely change how safe and effective the movement feels.

If you’re in Agawam, Westfield, Feeding Hills, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts and want help learning movements like this the right way, we’d love to help.

🎯 It Starts at the Bottom

The most important part of a wall ball rep isn’t the throw… it’s the position you hit at the bottom.

In these photos, our members are locked into a strong, balanced squat — setting up everything that comes after.

In class we focus on:

• hitting proper depth with control
• keeping the chest tall and core engaged
• staying balanced through the feet
• using the legs to drive the ball, not just the arms

When the bottom position is solid, the rest of the rep becomes smoother, more efficient, and easier to repeat under fatigue.

That’s what coached training is all about — dialing in the details so every rep counts.

If you’re in Agawam, Westfield, Feeding Hills, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts and want to move better and get more out of your workouts, we’d love to have you.

💪 Strong Overhead. Strong Everywhere.

This is what a solid thruster rep looks like — standing tall, bar locked out, and everything working together.

At the top of the thruster, it’s not just about getting the bar overhead… it’s about owning the position.

In these moments we’re looking for:

• a strong, stable lockout
• core engaged and ribs down
• shoulders active and supporting the load
• full control before moving into the next rep

These athletes aren’t just finishing the lift — they’re showing strength, confidence, and control under the bar.

That’s what coached training is all about. Building positions that are strong, repeatable, and safe — especially when the workout gets tough.

If you’re in Agawam, Westfield, Feeding Hills, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts and want to train in an environment that helps you move better and get stronger, we’d love to have you.

“If you make this bottle flip, you don’t have to do squats.”

immediately kicks the bottle across the gym

Some coaching methods are more ethical than others 😅

Needless to say… the squats still got done.
