Scout’s Honor Clay Classic 2026 — A Great Day for a Great Cause!
Today’s Scout’s Honor Clay Classic at the Addison Fish & Game Club was a great time spent with fellow shooters, friends, and family.
The format gave everyone an opportunity to try several different clay-target disciplines -- S***t, Five-Stand, Flurry Five-Stand, and Trap -- for a total of 100 targets. Our shooters ranged in age from 14 to 80, proving once again that breaking clay targets is a sport you can enjoy for a lifetime.
The weather was perfect. The companionship was outstanding. The scores… well, some were better than others! Apparently, perfect weather does **not** guarantee perfect shooting.
Most importantly, we raised **a little over $2,500 for our local Scout Troop 2027! Thank you to everyone who shot, volunteered, donated, helped organize the event, or simply came out to support the Scouts.
The Troop parents also put on a fantastic pig roast, complete with plenty of sides and some great desserts. After 100 targets, nobody seemed to have much trouble finding the dinner table.

A Few Well-Deserved Tributes
🏆 Danny Wilson turned in the performance of the day with an outstanding 95 out of 100! When you only let five birds escape all day, there isn't much left to blame on the wind, the sun, the machine, the shells, or the guy standing behind you.
👏 Garret Wilson gets special recognition for defeating his son Rollin, 72–70. It may have only been two birds, but everyone knows a two-bird victory over your son is worth considerably more at the family dinner table. Garret now owns the bragging rights — at least until the next shoot.
🤝 And then there are the VanEtten boys, Scott and Gordy, who both finished with 88. After all these years, it’s nice to see two brothers still willing to share — even if what they chose to share was the same score! Neither one gets to claim victory, and neither one has to listen to the other brag about it on the ride home.
At the end of the day, the numbers on the scorecard were secondary. We had shooters from several generations enjoying the same sport, plenty of laughs, some friendly competition, a terrific meal, and most importantly, we came together to support Scout Troop 2027.
