Leonard Field & Ada Covered Bridge

Leonard Field & Ada Covered Bridge Riverside park with baseball field and historic covered walking bridge along the Thornapple River. Softball has been played on Leonard Field since the 1940's.

Leonard Park serves as the heart of Ada and features a grassy baseball/softball field during the warmer months, and an ice skating pond during the winter months. Leonard Park is located along the Thornapple River, and features the historic Ada Bridge—a pedestrian bridge that walkers and bikers alike enjoy. Located at 7490 Thornapple River Drive, this small riverside park holds a good deal of Ada h

istory. Back in the days when TV was new and there wasn't much to do, the ball games would pack in the spectators. Prior to 1930 the covered bridge was the main thoroughfare across the Thornapple River. The Covered Bridge is a reconstruction of the original bridge that was destroyed by fire in 1979. "The Ada Covered Bridge is not available for reservations, rentals or private use. It must remain open to the public at all times." However it is often used for wedding photos, just not reserved use.http://adamichigan.org/uploads/township/Parks-Recreation/Ada-Township-Parks-Facility-Use-and-Program-Fees.pdf
