News about the “Fast Eddie Slider” moving from Sunday night before the Heartland Grand, to Tuesday night during the Heartland Grand. The event will follow the Pat’s Auto Salvage big TV miss and out shoot off. Thanks everybody for making the Heartland Grand so much fun. Looking forward to seeing you all down the line soon.

ATA Hall of Famer, and past president of the ATA, Neil Winston and the then executive committee introduced the current failure to fire rules (page 28 -29) that we are using today.
The attached video reflects before the current failure to fire rules were created, when the referee/puller would have to see if they could make the contestants gun go off. The contestant should not open the gun. Hold in a safe direction and the puller sticks their finger on the trigger to try to make it go off. If it would not go off, then the contestant opens up the gun to show if the primer was dented. If the primer was not dented and the gun is determined as a broken gun for a do over if they fixed or changed guns or it was a lost target. If the primer was dented, the shooter could use a spare shell and reshoot.
I just happened have video camera and captured the dented primer, malfunction at the Marshall Gun Club at Marshalltown, Iowa. Most likely in the late 70s.
Anyway, I am glad we are not there anymore and we are using the failure to “Failure to Fire” rules. Take some time get a rule book and read it. Read the official scoring and failure to fire rules today.

Ray Stafford shooting Handicap at Tucson Trap and S***t in about 1978. It was the chain shoot held before the ATA Spring Grand when hosted in Phoenix.

Big thank you to ATA shooter, Scott Woolsey and crew for helping place the mud, edge and finish.
Four 2 x 6s, 4 to 6 round concrete stakes driven in the ground outside of each 2x6 to make the trap house base, footing. After digging the hole 6 feet deep x 14’ square. Then some fill sand, bucket in the floor for a sump pump, ½” rebar on 24” centers, ready to pour the concrete. Covered with plastic to not freeze. Next, remove the stakes and form boards and bring in the steel wall forms.
I have nothing but respect for those who do this work for a living. I only have two more footings to go and I am hopefully done.

Walk across shoot off platform features and benefits at the Eastern Hills Rod and Gun Club features at Owensville, OH. This is on the trap on the right side of the club house shooting pretty much over the trap house. The long bird is more of a side shot from two traps away from the towards the right side of the clubhouse.
