There are four trails groomed for classic skiing. Snow shoeing allowed out of set track.

The trails are in good condition for hiking with a few muddy areas due to the recent heavy rain. Lots of birds and butterflies today. Lots of ticks and some mosquitoes. Perfect weather for hiking. There is a new woodchuck hole on Brehmer Creek Trail. Watch out for the poison ivy by the bench at the trailhead. Last picture is poison ivy.
There was a dirt bike on the trail Tuesday and rutted up the trail. If you see something, say something. The number for the sheriff's department is on the trailhead signs.

The forest is getting very green. Lots of wildflowers and birds. The mosquitoes are very friendly right now.

The trails are in good condition for hiking and the mosquitoes are now out. The Trilliums on Brehmer Creek Trail are beautiful. Just past the boardwalk. Birds today were Mourning Doves, Red Winged Hawks, Northern Yellow Warbler, Chestnut Sided Warbler, Blue Jay, American Redstart, and Ovenbird. LOTS of wildflowers.

What a beautiful morning for a walk in the woods! There were many birds today....chipping sparrow, broad-winged hawk, Ovenbirds, black-capped Chickadee, northern cardinal and Sandhill crane. Flowers and ferns are opening up...buttercup, trillium and many others.
REMINDER: Oconto County requires all dogs on County trails be on a leash no longer than 8 feet. We have had reports of unleashed and aggressive dogs. Please be considerate of others and keep your dogs on a leash.

The trails are in good condition for hiking. No bugs, but check for ticks. Only birds today were Morning Doves. The buttercup are not open yet.
REMINDER: Dogs are required to be on a leash no longer than 8 feet at all times per county ordinance.

What a great volunteer group today to clean up garbage along the roadsides in Machickanee Forest! A lot was accomplished. Since it was national Hug Your Plumber day and Jake from Jake's Plumbing joined us, he did get a few hugs. Machickanee Forest looks a lot better.

Reminder that we will be doing our annual Spring Cleanup of the roadsides in Machickanee Forest on Saturday, April 25th starting at 9 am. The more people we have the more we can accomplish! Wear high visibility clothing and bring gloves and grabbers if you have them. Meet at the trailhead 6625 Timberline Road.

Trails are in good condition for hiking. 🥾

Bonnie reported tucking her pants into socks and used an herbal repellent and had no issues with ticks today. 👍

We are excited to see the spring wildflowers starting.🌸

We had great weather for the Blackberry Hike for Hope on Sunday. Our group was very interested to hear about the upcoming bids for more logging of and through the trails at the county board meeting this Thursday, April 23rd @ 9 AM.

The water has gone down a lot in Brehmer Creek already. Hiking should be fine; just a little wet in places yet.
