When it comes to consistency in our game, I love this quote from Bruce Lee.
I often times see players who try to do too much on the golf course. They over complicate the process by trying to have all of the shots.
When I started playing golf, the concept of hitting 9 different shots was at the fore front of the golf world, thanks to Tiger Woods. So I tried to learn how to hit them all. And could only execute them half heartedly. I definitely didn’t have any confidence on which one I would be able to hit on command.
Now, I prefer to hit the ball one way, all the time. I don’t try to fade it (left to right). I only hit a draw (right to left). If I do hit a fade, it was a mistake. All of my full swing practice goes toward making my draw more efficient. I want to be able to stand on the tee box or to look at the green and know which way the ball is going to go, the majority of the time.
To be more consistent in your game, work on one shot (10,000 times). You’ll be surprised how this will allow you to channel all of your energy into doing one thing over and over again. Then it will become second nature and will free you up on the course.
