Can you spot my goofball son?

A gentle nudge to not take life, your career, or your business too seriously.

In the end it’s all about the relationships with the people you care about most that truly matters.

Wishing a fun and silly Friday from my family to yours!

We’re in the busiest quarter of the year to meet all those deadline so it’s easy to get put your head down and lose in yourself in the year-end grind.

Double tap if you need more energy and joy during this time!

What actually gives you energy and joy?

For me it’s:
✨playing with my 3 year old son
✨going for a run
✨having a deep conversation with a friend
✨listening to an inspiring podcast
✨meditating+yoga-ing
✨going on an adventure to discover something new (big or small)
✨snuggling with hubs with a 🎥 movie
✨a warm cup of tea
✨watching my clients transform in how they show up at work + life

And the list can go on!!

Without at least a few of these in my day, I feel stuck, grumpy, and unmotivated.

When we do things that energize us, we access higher states of focus, creativity, and productivity to solve problems at work and at home.

Let me now what you’ll be doing more of 👇🏼to boost your energy this week!

Do you or someone you know tend to be reactive in tough situations?

In a survey conducted for entrepreneurs in 2020, more than 95% stated that EQ in leadership is more important than IQ.

I only developed my EQ later on in life - I was always known as the ‘sensitive’ one in my family and was never taught how to process my emotions when I was younger so I spent a good part of me life being very reactive and feeling like I was hijacked by my emotions, which impacted how I showed up in my relationships both at home and at work.

Luckily EQ is a learnable skill and over the past 5 years I learned, practiced, strengthened, and repeated.

Here are the steps I take to shift from reacting to responding when an event happens:

1. Identify and name the feeling + notice what sensations arise in my body from the feeling - this is mindful awareness that’s key to responding constructively

2. Is this emotion serving me?

3. Which feeling would serve me better in this moment? If I can’t access that then...

4. Why might I be grateful for this one day?

Works for me every time.

Do you tend to compare yourself to others' success or progress?

There is so much more to 'success' than meets the eye.

Work SMARTER, not HARDER.

I having always been known for my work ethic. As a first generation immigrant growing up in the US, the value of working hard was engrained in me....until it burned me...and held me back from growing in my leadership.

A few years ago, I made the conscious choice to work SMARTER, not HARDER to find more joy and ease in the journey of building my definition of success.

For me this meant:

✨Saying YES to my passions and strengths to live my personal mission

✨ Saying NO to society's constructs of success

✨Doing the inner work to truly let go of the people pleasing and perfectionist mindset and behaviors that fueled overwork

✨Asking for help sooner rather than trying to figure out/power through it alone.

✨ Listening to and riding the waves of my peak energy and flow and then giving myself permission to rest rather than pushing through.

✨Starting each day with meditation, journaling, reading, and exercise to set the foundation for focus and peak performance.

Note to self: if I have control over it, make it happen...

In my situation here in Uganda, it’s not only COVID but elections next week that add a layer of uncertainty due to potential unrest. There are also rumors of another lockdown but no one knows for how long. At least we know the decision for a lockdown will be made the night before it goes into effect. So much for planning.

With so much uncertainty, the UgandaMarathon which I was supposed to run last year has been postponed... yet again until June 2022. Rawr.

Do I wait? Nah, it’s too easy to succumb to the waiting it out mindset.

There’s no joy in waiting! So I’m focusing on what I have control over and making it happen.

I’ll be lacing up my sneakers tomorrow and making it happen in June 2021, whether it’s by myself or in a group.

What are you making happen this year despite the circumstances?

2020 has been a crazy year of change that has thrown us all into the fire and confronted us with our truth of our reality - the good and the bad.

This last week of the year I always carve out some time to reflect on the last year - to celebrate the wins AND the failures to learn from both of them and identify where I can still grow.

Because if we don’t grow we aren’t really living.💃

How did you grow this year?

These are the smiles of transformation and clarity...

These amazing women started their mindful venture 4 weeks ago, sharing and releasing tears of frustration, guilt, loss, feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied living life based on conditioning and to meet others’ expectations.

Feelings that we all have at some point in our lives.

These ladies made a courageous choice to take the bull by the horns and make a change. Ready to truly live and not just exist, they joined my Clarity Mastermind in November.

After only 1 month - reconnecting with their true authentic selves and discovering their purpose and building a Vision for an exceptional life, these ladies are shining and ready to take on 2021 with a new perspective, new energy, confidence, and courage.

I am beyond proud and grateful to be part of their personal growth journeys to truly live and be extraordinary.

I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings.
