Fridays For Future - Uganda today at a press conference to draw attention to and its effects including the planned destruction of Bugoma Forest for a sugarcane plantation.
"Uganda has faced massive deforestation that has left the country with only 8% of its original forest cover. Research projects show that Uganda may not have forests by 2040 if this rate of deforestation continues", said Daniel Johansson Århem, Political Counselor at the Embassy of Sweden, on behalf of the Nordic Embassies in Uganda.
Youth-led organisations across the globe have decided to put their energy, voices and resources together to build a sustained youth-led campaign to save Bugoma forest. The Embassies of Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland have decided to support this global youth-led campaign.
