Tanzanian based Ambrose Awio donated balls to Lira Sports Academy and promised to keep doing the same every season.

On Saturday, 16 July 2022, Awio Ambrose who plays for the Tanzanian side, Polisi Tanzania FC donated 6 original balls to Lira Sports Academy as a personal support towards the grooming of young talents who will replace him in future.

Awio argued the young players to keep away from bad peer groups that would lure them into drug abuse!!!

He advised the players to learn being versatile, claiming he has played all positions in the pitch except goalkeeping. He cautioned the players who do clubbing and drink, "for me I don't drink alcohol and I don't do clubbing....!" Said Awio. He also sighted a number of players whom he grew up with and they were exceptionally talented but they wasted their talent due to indiscipline issues, drug use and alcoholism.

In his final remarks, Awio asked Lira Sports Academy players to work harder and aim higher for greater success. He promised to support the academy every season with balls on handing over the 6 balls to the academy Director Obira Bob and the CEO, Ocogo James aka Ortega.

Lira Sports Academy graduate Semutai Daniel emerged as the Northern Regional League top scorer.

Netting 10 times in the Northern Regional League was enough to earn Semutai a top scorer bragging rights in the 2021/2022 season while featuring for Regional League side Heros FC as an attacking midfielder.

The teenager (18 yrs old) is a product of Lira Sports Academy under the stewardship of Legendary Obira Bob alongside his companions James Ocogo aka Ortega, Nurse Judith, among others who passed through thick and thin with the academy players to see them reach where they are today.

Semutai was part of Lira Town College team that beat Uganda and East Africa Secondary Schools heavyweight St. Mary's Kitende in 2017 and was voted Man of the Match in that particular game. He thereafter left Lira Town College and joined Kibuli SS for his A level where he was appointed as the school team captain because of his bravery and leadership skills.

A brighter future awaits Semutai after scoring a double digits and assisting 14 times thus directly contributing to 24 out of the total goals scored by Heros FC in the 2021/2022 season, different clubs from Regional Leagues, Startimes FUFA Big League and Startimes Uganda Premier League are interested in his signature of the sensational teenager this summer.
