WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING BRAVE AND BEING A COWARD?
Once, a king and fifteen of his soldiers went to a forest for hunting wild animals.
Suddenly they were surrounded by hundred soldiers from the enemy kingdom with advanced weapons.
The king knew that it was impossible to defeat them. He took a step backward, turned around and started running away with his soldiers.
He knew the soldiers would think of him as a coward. He knew they would spread this information and the whole kingdom would talk about it. And his valour would be questioned.
Yet he didn’t care. He kept on running. He wanted to save his life. He had to be there for his family and kingdom. There were going to be serious problems in the future and he wanted to be alive to solve them.
Once, a king and fifteen of his soldiers went to a forest for hunting wild animals.
Suddenly they were surrounded by hundred soldiers from the enemy kingdom with advanced weapons.
The king knew that it was impossible to defeat them.
He wanted to step back.
But he was worried what his soldiers and subjects would think of him. He didn’t want to get humiliated. He wanted to remain as a brave king forever.
He stepped forward unarmed and got killed within minutes.
People closed their eyes for 2 minutes, remembered him as a brave king, prayed for his peace and went on with their lives.
So in my opinion, the first one is an example of bravery while the second one is an example of cowardice.
Doing what you want to do without fearing the humiliations or opinions of the society is a sign of bravery.
While, doing something you don’t want to do but just to please others and to save yourself from humiliation is a sign of cowardice.
