It's been a while...A long weekend well spent at one of our favourite places, St Charles Lwanga Kasasa supporting the girls before they travel for the National Ball Games in Ntare School this May. The rain could not stop us from having hockey fun on the muddy pitch! Two days is certainly not enough, but it is a start. ☺️

Hockey is back! In our first game since 2019, we played Deliverance Church. We were rusty, but excited to be back! We started the game exactly 11 players. We lost a player due to injury, and with one person less for most of the game, we still managed to draw 2-2. An excellent start! It was also great that we didn't have to hire goalkeeper equipment, thanks Washington Field Hockey Association Goals scored by Carol Nakazzi and Gloria Amony.

The journey continues. The day before women's day, we took a 3hr and 40 minute bus ride to Kalisizo to introduce Hockey to 41 girls at Christ the King Secondary School. We had so much fun and the girls were such quick learners. We give thanks to Chris and Olive James, SouthGate Hockey Club, Washington Field Hockey , Nao Tobita, Emma Ahaisibwe, Christopher Ategeka and Sister Passy Nawangi for helping us make this happen. Keep posted, there is a tournament in the area loading soon!

2019...We have finished another year.

An eventful year of hockey and fun.

We received equipment and support from Washington Field Hockey Association, and were able to introduce hockey to 42 girls in Bukulula Girls' school and engage 20 girls from St. Charles Lwanga, Kasasa. Bukulula Girls even had interhouse hockey competitions last term.

We received a full set of socks from Patrick Yoacel, and a uniform from Rugby Tackling Life

We held a life skills session, supported by Rugby Tackling Life, where girls learnt important skills to help them tackle the challenges girls face in life

We taught the girls Savings Skills - it is not about how much you earn, but how you use what you earn.

We ensured that the members understood the importance of education in life and did what we could to ensure that the girls stayed in school. We have a total of 5 girls on both hockey bursary and receiving support.

At the end of the year, we received hockey sticks from Chris and Olive James, and we have already earmarked the school to start hockey on first term next year, 2020.

We had a get together for our first time - a little bit of fun to wind up the year.

We are grateful for all who have given us support this year, and looking forward to 2020!
