Express was the first Ugandan club to use football boots and it is the only premier league side that never featured in the promotional mini leagues. Its entry into the topflight division from third division came was due to soccer flair that mesmerised many a soccer enthusiast and earned Automatic promotion. Express has won five league championships and six league cups with one double (league & cup) in 1995 and were twice East and Central Africa deputy club champions to El Merreikh (Sudan) and Simba Sports Club of Tanzania in 1994 and 1995 respectively. CLUB FOLLOWING
Express FC has always had a big following and commanded the lion’s share of the Ugandan foot ball fan base. The club’s large following was misunderstood politically in 1977 and was banned by the Governor and National Council of Sports chairman at the time Brig. The ban imposed on Express FC gave way to the rise of its youth side Nakivubo Boys. All officials of Express turned to Nakivubo Boys and engineered the team to become a foot balling power house. Nakivubo boys changed its name to Nakivubo villa and then later changed its name Sports Club Villa. Express was revived in 1979 to continue with its contribution to the game and claim more success. Since then the club has never been relegated from the Premier league.
