🇺🇬 The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial 7s

An upcoming rugby 7s event tied to Victoria University Kampala and its team, the Victoria Sharks.

Rajiv Ruparelia (1990–3 May 2025) was the Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group and son of businessman Sudhir Ruparelia. He died in a car accident at the Busabala area near the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. He played a key role with Victoria University & had a multi-sport background that included rugby during his education in the UK, alongside his better-known involvement in motorsport/rallying.

Victoria University’s rugby side, the Sharks, has been dominant in university 7s in recent years (winning consecutive Varsity 7s titles) and has progressed in core national 7s series.

Motorsport has had its own dedicated memorials (drives and named rally stages), while this one centers on rugby through the university’s team.

🇺🇬|🇲🇬|🇿🇲|🇿🇼 Madagascar is OUT?

Uganda Rugby’s press release this evening announcing the Junior Rugby Cranes’ 32-man squad revealed a change in fixtures: Uganda will now face Zambia in a two-match First Division series before concluding their campaign with a trial match against Zimbabwe.

This appears to indicate Madagascar’s withdrawal from the tournament, a development that had not previously been communicated and is yet to be officially confirmed.

Aseza Hele has been included in the Springbok Women tour squad of 26 players that will travel to Fiji this week for a historic tour where they will face the Fijiana XV in two Tests, on 8 and 15 August in Suva and Lautoka.

Fixtures Leak Reveals Schedule

A reliable source has revealed the provisional fixture schedule for the 2026 Rugby Africa U20 Barthés Trophy, offering an early glimpse of the tournament.

All matches will be played at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Kampala

The leaked schedule indicates hosts Uganda opening against top seeds Zambia, while Zimbabwe’s Young Sables take on Kenya’s Chipu.
