In 1999, a representative of South America, Brazil, became a member of the IFF for the first time. For the first time in their history, the Finns won the Women's World Championship. Like the men, the tournament was split into two divisions [3].
By the late 1990s, the rapidly gaining popularity in the world, floorball had become famous enough to claim professional recognition. In 2000, the IFF received temporary membership in the GAISF (General Association of International Sports Federation).
In 2001, international tournaments for young floorball players were organized for the first time. The World Youth Championship (for youths under 19) was held in Germany. In 2002, Sweden hosted the first University Floorball World Championship.
